sounds like its in bicycle or pedestrial mode.....switch it back to automobile...
not sure on your unit but try this it may be the same as my nuvi......go to Tools.... Settings.... System...Usage mode .....make sure its on Automobile.....
Have you by any chance done any software updating of your Garmin? They have some updates available for your unit. This could possibly resolve the inaccuracies with your unit. Try installing the webupdater for windows and allow it to update you garmin unit. You can find the software for your particular unit here:
Have you tried firmware update for your gps . If you have not tried it try to update the latest firmware . By updating firmware your problem can be fixed .
