My Kenmore front-load washing machine from 2000 (model no. 417) is not advancing through the cycle as it should -- it kind of gets stuck in one mode of washing and then doesn't move on. We can hand-advance it, but then it gets stuck on the next mode. Help?

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.
