How do i get the smartcode 909 to stop trying to lock continuously? It has already locked itself.

I am able to lock it manually and with the pad and it seems to be locked completely. It just keeps trying to do it after it has been locked.

Mine did that when the deadbolt was not fully extending. Sprayed some WD40 where the deadbolt extends and locked/unlocked repeatedly to work it in. Tried again and no issue. Good luck!

SOURCE: I just installed a Smartcode Deadbolt and I follow

On the back of the unit slide the cover off and push the 2nd switch (on the contorl panel of four switches) down.

To program the code, push the black button once and enter a 4 to 8 digit code, then press the middle lock button. To set a secondary code, press the black button twice, enter 4 to 8 digit code and press the lock button.

This should all be self explanitory in the instruction manual.

I have one of these on my front door and its fantastic. I carry a key but have not used it in months. Bravo Kwikset, Bravo!

This link will take you to the PDF image of the installation and programming instructions:

(PDF files require that you have Adobe Reader or similar installed on your computer

It's a good time to replace the batteries while you're reprogramming. Please review each step carefully, because it's easy to goof up this programming process, if you don't follow the procedure properly.

Good luck!

Let's review the programming steps, in case you are overlooking something. This information was found at this link:
http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/BDHHI/kwikset-smartcode

Important before proceeding: 1. Verify that position #2 of the "Settings
Switch" is in the OFF position. (Refer to section 11.) 2. Work with the
door open (away from jamb) to avoid accidental lock out. 3. Make sure
the bolt of latch is in the extended (locked) position

8. Automatic - Bolt Direction Determination (Door Handing).
IMPORTANT: DO NOT SKIP THE FOLLOWING STEP.
LOCK WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPERATE PROPERLY!
? In the steps below, the SmartCode mechanism automatically determines the "door handing" and sets the proper direction for motor to rotate.

a. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the exterior keypad, while fully inserting the battery pack into the interior assembly (the tabs on the pack must face out)

b. When the unit begins to operate the bolt, release the "LOCK" button.

c. Do not disturb the unit for approximately 20 seconds until the interior Green LED flashes followed by a beep. During this time the system will drive the bolt several times, will determine "door handing", store data in memory and exit. It is very important that this process is allowed to finish properly.

Proceed with programming your Usercodes per the instructions.

SOURCE: kwikset smartcode deadbolt newly installed unlocks when lock button pushed. I have taken batteries out and reset few times with no success.

"I have installed your Powerbolt, but when I push the Lock Button, it unlocks? What should I do?"
First remove the cover on the inside of the Powerbolt unit. On the right hand side under the batteries, you will notice that is says "Door Direction Jumper". If the cap is mounted on Prongs 1 & 2, carefully remove it and move it over so that it mounts Prongs 2 & 3. A is right handed, B is left handed.
These instructions will work just fine for you:
http://www.kwikset.com/Customer-Support/Product-FAQs/Faq/50160000000HhhEAAS.aspx

Notice that the above is a .PDF file type. That means that you need to have Adobe Reader or similar installed on your computer to view it. So if you are unable to view the file, download (for free) and install Adobe Reader first. You can get it here:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/

These locks are made to work on a door which, when you stand outside and face it, has its hinges on either the left-hand or right-hand side of the door (= door "handedness").
The jumper controls that for the appropriate installation. Yours is set wrong!

What's is the standard preprogramed code for smartcode locks

If there was a standard preprogrammed code for locks, given that there are many people either too lazy or too stupid to reset their own unique lock code, thieves would be having a field day. Therefore, there is no standard preprogrammed lock code, for digital locks or digital safes.
