Question about Dell UltraSharp 1901FP 19" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Source switches The monitor keeps flipping from source #1 to source #2 and back, really fast. I figure out that the problem was with the button that is suppose to switch it. I seems to be on all the time. I know this because if i try to pull it out, it stops momentarily. I managed to lock the screen so it could not switch, but now there is a big lock icon in the middle of my screen, and i can not figure out how to unlock it either.

Fixed by prying the button off of the switch screen sensor.

When powered on, it shows the Gateway splash screen and all of the blue LEDs light up for a second but then nothing. It's like its not hooked to the video card but it is. Older system with windows 98se...

If the monitor is a multiple source monitor then it could be stuck on an incorrect source or may not support auto source detection. See if there is a button to change the source. This will typically, but not always, be labeled source or have an icon that looks like a square with an arrow.
If there is no way to change the source or it is a single source monitor then you should see if it works on another system.
Since you shared that there is normally a dell monitor on the system then it is safe to say the computers video output is working correctly, but it is possible that the Gateway monitor will not work with the older hardware of the system.
I wish you the best of luck

Screen says check signal cable - have check my cables....

Not really...

First check if the cable connected from the monitor is secured and properly connected to the video card of the CPU.

"Check signal cable" will only be display if there is no signal coming from the CPU.. that signal Passes through the video card..

Check the status of your video card.....and see also if the CPU is working and not dead set.

Hope this help...

Monitor switchs between digital and analog

I had a similar problem, the monitor was going blank once in a while (since I don't have a VGA input), so I switched the Auto Source feature to "Manual" and so far it's working fine for the past 2 days, if I run into the problem again I'll update this message.

On the side panel of your monitor, press the top button to access the menu, scroll down to the setup menu (by pressing the 3rd button down on the panel), press the 4th button down to enter the setup menu, scroll down to "Auto Source", use the 4th button to select, "Auto" & "Manual" are your choices.. press the 2nd button down to select "Manual" then the top button to exit the menu(s).

This monitor is set up to be able to do multi display with the software included. Utilizing both Digital and Analog signals. I'm not using this feature so I'm not sure how switching the Auto Source off will affect the performance of this feature.

StarLogic monitor needs to be switched off digital signal.

Dear Carol,

You can check at rear of the the monitor.
Sometime they assmbled the switch at the back of the Monitor.
May be that the switch is located there.

Westinghouse ltv-19w6 source won't change

Have you tried to click the source button on the tv? It is the second button from the bottom on the right hand side of the screen.

I doubt your tv/monitor is turning off, it just isn't getting any input. D-Sub is the "pc monitor part".

Try clicking that button, give it sec, the hit it again. It will go through all of it inputs. If TV is what you are trying to find, it is directly after the Video input (green letters, top right hand side of the screen.) Keep hitting the button until TV shows up.

Good Luck!

There's nothing in the wiring that could cause this problem; sounds like a fault in the faceplate. I would say the unit needs to be serviced.
