We just replaced the pump in our hot tub. When we wired it my husband accidentally reversed the wiring. When we turned the power back on my husband heard a buzz and we cut the power right away. We assumed it was a blown fuse but we checked all of the fuses and they're all fine. What are we missing? What is blown?
That doesn't sound good, is it 110 volts or 220? if it is 220 you can not wire it backwards. the hum might be that there is not enough power to turn it over. it could be a loose wire, bad connection, or a bad start run capacitor. if it is a capacitor it is located under the hump cover on the motor.
It's a 220, and there was a hum when we first flipped the breaker, but nothing now. The display doesnt even turn on, so I dont think it would be anything on the motor itself, but I could be wrong. What do you think?
the display should be 110, that is done by only taking one leg of the 220, it should not mater which one. Turning on the breaker should not have engaged the motor, the command to turn on the motor should have come form the board when you where ready for the motor. you can test the motor by wiring it directly to the breakers and bypassing the control board, have you wife stand by and watch as you flip the beakers the pump should come to life. if it does you are looking at the board for the problem.
Thanks. I'll give that a try.

Lets disconnect the wires on the motor from the tub, but leave the motor intact. I assume you have one of these small 2 seater units that have one motor. it's a 120 volt unit with a built in GFI in the cord. after disconnecting the motor wires and powering it back up.
the display will show something... we need those codes on the display...

Check at the plug in if it has a normal plug like in your home first. Should be a set of buttons there, called a GFI. One is test, and the other reset.Push reset to see if spa comes on. Most spas dont have an actual on button. Check breaker box for popped breaker also, maybe tub is having problems, and needs a service call. Also larger tubs ussually jave a gfi or fuse box outside, close to tub. Kirk

Hopefully you have not fried the motor. To free a stuck motor: try to reach past the strainer to the impeller and turn it. If you can't do that, remove the electric end cover and find a double flat for a wrench where the shaft goes into the motor. Or maybe you can remove the spring thing from the end of the motor and move the shaft with a pair of vise grips or pliers. Don't damage the place where the spring thing mounts. Don't try to move the motor with the plastic fan thing near the pump, you'll just break it, and then you really have problems.
To keep a motor from sticking, thru off season occasionaly spin the pump, just a few seconds will do, don't need water.

In all liklihood, your problem is a breakdown in the insulation of the heating element. The elements tend to be mineral insulated then metal jacketed. Once you get a bit of corrosion on the jacket and a little water gets into the mineral powder, it's insulation properties fall off sharply, shorting out the power supply.
There are two practical ways of testing this:
The pro way of doing it is to borrow a high voltage insulation tester, disconnect the power leads from the element and check the resistance between one of the elements terminals and the jacket. Treat anything less than a megohm as a failure requiring replacement of the element. (nb. This is one of those rare cases where you need to use a proper insulation tester - an ordinary multimeter often fails to find this problem)
The alternative is just to replace the element and see how much difference it makes.

check to see that the flow switch is working properly, it may not have enough flow on low speed to allow the heater to turn on. Make sure your filter/s is/are clean. If you have a pressure switch instead of a flow switch, it may need to be adjusted or replaced.

Power to the unit but not the display + mice = bad board probably. Service call required...
