Question about Mitsubishi VS-45609 TV

1 Answer

No color sometimes

My older (over 10 years) little Emerson tv sometimes has only b\w when first turned on. So far, the color has come back (I always fiddle with picture controls, but don't know if that's made a difference). Is it going to go out on me completely soon - in other words, should I get a new one, or will this one probably last a little while longer with just having to wait for the color to come back after first turning it on??? Thanks in advance...

Re: no color sometimes

So long as your reception is good, sounds like colour- killer circuitry or something that is killing the colour burst pulse.
Oh well, small TV's are pretty cheap now!

The picture on on older style Philips tv is all out of wack I cant get the color, tint, sharpness nor the brightness back to a good pic pls someone tell me what numbers to put them on I know I will keep it...

It may be the set has a fault or its age has caught up with it as an engineer of the past "sunshine" has always caught out older sets after gloomy light bulb days of winter when it has little light competition.
Over contrast can cause many fluffy edged smeary pictures because its age loses that picture punch so "we crank up the contrast" if its at max drop it back.
Sharpness I find 75% is a good starting point otherwise you get "ringing" (multi edges) on some sets.
Try again with curtains drawn a bit if this works better, then age may well be the problem or a service call out if an adjustment is needed inside. If its a glass tube type then most lose ground after 6 years to age depending on their lifestyle, though I have seen a few 10 year olds holding their own mostly in elderly owner situations.
Hope this helps in some way..........

My emerson tv keeps turning the volume up and down by itself

There is an IC inside the set that is suppose to control the volume and maintain the level it is set to and not let it get to high on commercials or to low in love scenes.this IC has gone bad, common problem in Emerson. IC isn't very expensive, although sometimes it's in with other things on a 64 pin IC. Little tiring desoldering and soldering it back in.

I have an older emerson tv that I can not get to pick up channels above 36. It is pluged directly into my cable outlet. When I hook up another tv it will get around 90 channels. Is there a setting I can...

I doubt that there is a setting built or designed in your tv, older tv tuning systemslike yours were designed for what was back then available as far as channel capability(cable ready sets)what ypu can do is get a cable converter and get the channels thru the box or if you have a vcr hooked up you can always select channels thru te vcr tuner if the tuning system in the vcr is newer. thanks!

Color adjustment on Sony 36" Trinitron

Unfortunately, the CRT (Picture Tube) is reaching its very end. Your set is not feasible to service even if the CRT would still be available from Sony or any jobbers.

I would be seriously shopping for a new TV set!
