Question about ASUS M2N-E SLI (M2N-E SLI GREEN) Motherboard

No video I took out my 80gig ide hard drive and took off the jumper to my 320gig hard drive to switch it from 1.5gig a sec to 3gig a sec turned my computer back on and no video everything else seemed to be working but no video. so tried putting everything back the way that it was but still nothing tried clearing c-mos but still the same problem what can I do to get my computer back up and running?

    I did I don't know what I have no because I have no video to see if the bio's even post. I don't know what to do I have never had this problem before.

    yes it is plugged into the right one. To be onest with you out of desperation I did try the other plug in and the I even took out my sli video card and put in a regular pci video card and that wouldn't work eather.

    the monitor is working. I have it hooked up to my wifes computer right now that is how I am being able to talk to ya.

    No I have not tried the video card in another computer I don't have another computer that will support sli video card. Like I said before I tried a pci video card on my new board and it didn't work either and to answer right now the pci card doe's work.

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to IDE-1 means Pri slave escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

you will have to have master with slave set up

you can find the jumper location next to the power on a hard drive and the settings for plastic jumper location is usually printed on the top of a hard drive
IDE-0 means Pri master
IDE-1 means Pri slave
IDE-2 means Sec master

Fujitsu might be different have a look on top of the hard drive this is if your hard drive is IDE 40 pin flat bibbon type leads

if its a SATA hard drive the larger drive takes the master

you can find the jumper location next to the power on a hard drive and the settings for plastic jumper location is usually printed on the top of a hard drive

IDE-0 means Pri master
IDE-1 means Pri slave
IDE-2 means Sec master
IDE-3 means Sec slave

How do you connect the cables or jumpers?


the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) they might have a 40 pin on the hard drive or a sata they just push on to make a connection make sure they have a secure connection

I need to put my hard drive into an enclosure but I cannot figure out if I need to switch it to a slave before adding it to another computer


i have done this alot for my customers and its really simple. if you look up your drive and get the jumper settings for it and set it to cable select or master in a one drive enclosure it will work well. i do not recommend putting it on slave because some enclosures will not recognize the drive, I do recommend having an enclosure with a fan on board and an external power switch. the reason it the fan will extend the life of the drive and the power switch eill allow you to power it on and off without having to flatten (power hot swap) the drive. Hot swap is ok but this is better than just unplugging the drive. removing the power from the drive keeps the drive in park until you re-power. as long as the drive is "parked" it is les likely to cause read/write sector errors.

It is an IDE hard drive. Thr IDE drive will have a double row of 44 data pins

yes, itz compatible..
howevr, for all pata ide drives..remember the master(MA or MS) jumper is always in a vertical position along or just beside the ide cable port/pata port..while the slave is either 'open-all' or just beside..
there's no such jumper to b fixed on the main/mother board..
