.PNG stands for "Portable Network Graphics". Sounds like the sender may have scanned the document, and sent the scanned document to you? Scans will come out as either .png, .jpg, or .pdf formats.

If the file is a .png, you won't be able to edit in MS Word.

Another thing to check - Make sure when you are working on a Word Document, you are saving it as a .doc file.

  • Open MS Word Document
  • Do your editing
  • Click on the "Fille" button, and then select "save as" option
  • In the window that appears, next to the "save as type" wording click on the down triangle to see different formats to save. Select ".doc"
Bottom line... tell whomever is sending the emails with attachments, to send you the MS Word file, not a scanned file.

I am new to Yahoo and I cannot seem to attach anything. It just sits there saying that it needs time. I never had this problem with Comcast. What do I need to do t resolve it?

Yahoo Mail is a Web-based email program that is provided for free by Yahoo.
Anyone can sign up for the service to send and receive emails from friends and family.
Yahoo places restrictions on the size and type of attachments that can be sent and received when using Yahoo Mail.
Any email attachment that contains a virus, is too large or doesn't meet the file type requirements may be blocked by Yahoo.
Virus Scanner

Yahoo Mail scans each attachment that arrives or departs from your inbox with Norton AntiVirus.
If the virus scanning software detects a virus within an attachment, Yahoo will warn you and attempt to clean it.
Yahoo does not promise that every virus will be detected or cleaned by the Norton AntiVirus software.
Only accept attachments from people you know and trust.
Don't attempt to open blocked attachments if it is known to harbor a virus.
Large Attachments
Attachments exceeding 25 megabytes will not attach to an email.
Multiple attachments that exceed 25 megabytes will also be blocked by Yahoo Mail.
Once your attachments reach 25 megabytes, you will no longer be able to add any additional attachments.
If you have many attachments to send that exceed 25 megabytes, send several emails to send all of the attachments.
If you are receiving attachments, let the sender know that you are unable to receive any attachments larger than 25 megabytes.
Slow Connection Speed
It may appear that Yahoo is blocking your attachments if you have a slow dial-up connection because they may never appear to load.
Yahoo isn't actually blocking the attachment, the connection is just very slow.
A 25 megabyte file could take over an hour to download with a 56K dial-up connection.
Your computer may go to sleep or the download may be even slower if you surf the Web while your files upload.
File Type
Only certain file types can be sent using Yahoo Mail.
Yahoo Mail allows you to add audio files, images, HTML files, word processing documents, spreadsheets and many other types of files as attachments.
Some documents are not supported, but you can send unsupported file types by renaming them, including them in a RAR or ZIP archive, creating a Word document with the file, sending the file through Yahoo Messenger or you can upload the file elsewhere and send a link to the file via email.

Move emails to a windows file?

Hi springtwo.

This has worked for me in the past. Try it.

When email arrives in your inbox - press File, Save as (call it whatever you want to) then move to the next drop down menu and change it from mail (eml) to Unicode text file (txt). It is sent to your Notepaid and then can be changed to whatever you want and saved to Word, or into any document.

Hope this helps.

How to delete the attached files sent in the past? i don't want them in receiver's inbox

If you're sending the email from your computer using Microsoft Outlook or Incredimail,
  • Right click on the email you want to resend and from the menu that appears select FORWARD
  • The email will open up for you to make any changes showing the names of the attached files
  • Right click on the attachment and select REMOVE
  • The email can then be sent without the attachments
If you use an online email facility it would depend on which one you use but the steps are more than likely pretty much the same.

You might try to change the file name. Most email systems struggle with any kind of punctuation in a file name. Please check the file name which is denied to sent. ( If this solutions helpful to you please rate it)

How to download photos from disk to my inbox so I can send a picture to somone elses e-mail address

You do not actually have to get them to your inbox, you simply ATTACH the pic whatever, by clicking ATTACH, and Browsing to the location of the file when you "Compose" a new Email, then it will upload to the email server and be sent to the recipient.
