Mine does that when the battery is getting very low. I've found that I have to reboot the phone (and it has to just turn off if the battery is TOO low to power back on) and then it will accept the charge.
My girlfriend's phone also runs into this problem whenever the phone dies or gets separated from the battery. I actually tried disassembling, drying, master resetting, etc. What I finally found works is to remove the battery, plug phone into charger, and turn it on. I then put the battery back in and it works fine.
HI madie gordon go to your settings and see if the display for the light is set to always on. Also You can take the battery out and it will reset the phone for you. If your still having problems after the battery pull. You need to go the nearest verizon corp store have them look at it. THE light could be stuck also. the battery pull is call a soft reset of the phone.
I accidentally dropped my phone in water and then the power button (red) wouldn't work. But then I took out the battery, plugged it in the charger, and then replaced the battery while it was still plugged in. It worked!
The only solution a consumer can try is to remove the battery from the device and then plugging it back in. If that does not reset the power button then a professional will need to work on the devise.
My Phone had the same problem. Atnt said it happens when there is too much data on the phone. You can try soft resetting it which is taking out the battery. There is also hard resetting which takes everything out but I didn't want to do that so I'm not sure how it would be done. I solved my problem by taking out the SD card and turning the phone back on. Then I deleted files in the phone that I don't need. After putting back the SD card I deleted files off of that too. Now it seems to work fine.
