Question about Lite On Laars Lite 2 Heaters: 250,000BTU MV Heater

2 Answers

A electrician told me that the exchanger is cracked and is leaking water. This is why I can't get heat in my pool. However no one is taking the blame for this happening! Is this covered within my warranty? I purchased this unit brand new in 2008.

It should be covered under warranty unless heat exchanger was damaged due to water quality issues such as low ph

It would depend on the company you bought it from, the length and type of your warrenty, and how many excuses they can find not to cover it.

The only way to answer that is to call the company who gave you the warrenty and explain the situation to them.

Hi I've just removed heat exchanger to clean it but lots of water had gathered around it.

How much water? Just condensation amount or are you talking more ? While you have it out I would take a garden hose & crack the valve open so u get a slow stream dribbling out & stick in one end of one of the heat exchanger tubes and plug the other with your thumb and see if starts misting or spraying out anywhere. If so u have a leak in the exchanger & should replace it but u could try welding it closed if you're good at that kind of thing but replacing it with last a lot longer. Make sure your chemistry is good for the pool or spa as the number one cause for heat echanger failure is low ph/alkalinity aka acidic water.

Master temp 400 2 yr old bad heat exchanger??

i dont blame you for your frustration!! i have hadseveral customers who had great water chemistry and had the heat exchanger fail. if you have a salt water pool, you should have been advised to purchase a heater with a cupro nickel heat exchanger instead of just a copper one. otherwise since ur chemistry was spot on, then you unfortunatly purchased a bad unit

I have a hayward H100ID above ground pool heater. Recently the heater is making a rattling sound and the in and out hoses are bucking or pulsating. The water is still being heated but somehting does not...

low water flow is making the heater knock, (PULSATE) clean filter or backwash, check pump and skimmer baskets and empty. if still low flow and knocking, check impeller on pool pump to make sure it isnt clogged.

Water flows out the condensation tube even when the heater is not runiing causing the pool to leak down. The heater is 4 years old. Thank you.

It sounds like there is a leak in your system. The condensation tube is to drain off the water because one of the byproduct of combustion is water and it condenses on the heat exchanger. Since it is only 4 years old it might be under warrantee for this issue. The problem might be simple but could be very expensive if the heat exchanger has a leak.

My heat exchanger was cracked. I found an old welder who knew how to weld the cracks for $100 vs $900 for a new exchanger,. Also ordered replacement seals for the 2 chambers. I used high temp automotive engine sealant as an additional sealant precaution. Also inspected tubes and cleaned corrosion. Works fine last 3 years. Takes some mechanical skills.

Yes I just had the same problem, the guy that I bought the house from told me to drain the pump and the filter, etc. But failed to mention there is three brass plugs on the side of the unit, so the heat exchanger cracked, but i took it to a general welding shop and they welded the crack up so that saved me a bunch of money That is all you have to do
