A electrician told me that the exchanger is cracked and is leaking water. This is why I can't get heat in my pool. However no one is taking the blame for this happening! Is this covered within my warranty? I purchased this unit brand new in 2008.

it should be covered under warranty unless heat exchanger was damaged due to water quality issues such as low ph

It would depend on the company you bought it from, the length and type of your warrenty, and how many excuses they can find not to cover it.

The only way to answer that is to call the company who gave you the warrenty and explain the situation to them.
