Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

1 Answer

My f key is not working properly on my Dell Inspiron 1525

When I hit the f key "fs" is what shows up on my screen - I have rebooted several times and it is still a problem - can anyone help?? There doesn't seem to be any other issues with any of the other keys and none of the keys have ever been removed - the laptop is only about 5 months old. Thanks!!

I think maybe somehow the "s" key is sticking or is messing up. You can try cleaning the "f" and the "s" keys with a damp q-tip and see if that helps but if it doesn't then your only other option is to replace the keyboard.

There is a possibility that the laptop is overheating due to an accumulation of dust/dirt. Take the laptop to a repair shop and have them check it out.

It sounds like you've either erased the partition where Dell stores this restoration, or someone else has. The only way to get this back to manufactured state is to request a disc from Dell or re-install the OS.

The windows start up shows and then it shows the scan bar and then a black screen and nothing else. How do I fix this?

Reboot the computer and keep hitting F8 to enter the recovery screen. Boot into Safe mode, and run system restore (programs-->Accessories-->system tools). Restore your computer to a previous date when it worked properly.

go to control Panel, Hardware and Sound and then select Power Options. There are several plans to choose from or you can create your own Power Plan. Choose when you want the display to shut off but make sure the "Put the computer to sleep:" is set to "never". The save the changes.

go into msconfig and then click on the startup tab. Click on the button that says disable all and then apply the changes. Let the laptop reboot and when it gets back into windows try to go into hibernation mode again and see if it still reboots on you. If it does then its an operating system issue. If it doesn't reboot on you, then go back into msconfig and only enable the programs that you feel you need to run when windows boots up.
