Hi, I had (have?) the same problem with mine. I kept switching camera modes (video, then back to auto) with it powered off. Eventually it came on. Another time I just kept switching out different batteries, and it came on. Sorry this isnt a long term solution.

I have the same problem as Ifmanarik ~ all I've done to address is switch out batteries (which you would think would be enough ~) Anyone know a long-term solution?

My camera will not turn on, i've tried changing the batteries, every once in a while it will come on for a few minutes then turn off again.

Similar for me: Snapping away when the screen went blank - lens never closed, and it was actively in use, so I knew it wasn't a normal time out. Trying to turn it back on, I got nothing - neither in camera view, nor in review view. I did note the function dial had switched away from "auto", so don't know if my thumb dialed it away at a bad time? Tried changing the batteries several times, tried cleaning the terminals, tried "jumpstarting" it by plugging it into my PC, then, getting desperate, I tried an old trick I used to use on glitchy pagers - I put the batteries in upside down (known to reset the timing on pagers), and left them there for maybe 30 seconds, then inserted them back in the right way, and son of a gun if the silly thing didn't come back on! I don't know if it's just a fluke or not, but you can bet if it happens again, it'll be the first thing I try! Good luck!

Same problem. It is intermittent. If I take the batteries out for about 5 minutes, then put them back in, it will power up.

A little fuse inside of camera on power supply board is broken. Just replace it and problem will be solved. This problem is very common in this Canon A75 and others A series.

First, check that the battery terminals are clean and in contact with the batteries. Next, there are two door switches on the A75 that need to close to operate the camera. One is by the flash card door, the other by the battery door. A small piece of plastic on each door activates the switches when the doors are closed. Check to make sure that both of these are indeed being pushed in all the way when the doors are closed. Hope this helps at least one of you peeps. Camera just froze up.

Try Rebooting the camera. Take out the existing batteries and insert some new ones. Then, turn it on and the lens should go back inside!

Hope this helps.

Canon A75 stuck between ON & OFF after uploading photos

My Canon A75 has the EXACT same problem. I have always handled it with care. When I was taking photos with it, the camera suddenly started shutting down without a low battery warning. It just started shutting down, but it stopped with the lens still sticking half way out. Like yours, the top green light flashes when I try pressing the power button. Any ideas?
