Question about Dell Studio 1537 Laptop

1 Answer

My studio's not even acknowledging i've put a CD in the drive

So i've had this laptop all in all a month. I got it for college and am by no means a computer wiz. I pulled it out of the box and it was ready to go, all I had to do was get the trend micro stuff worked out. Other than that i havent tampered with anything. Now im tryin to upload various music CD's, and softwares and my laptop takes the cd, sounds like its reading it. But nothings popping up or anything. I even checked all my settings to where it should at least notify i've put a CD in and i still get nothing. Its not even showing up under the "computer" button on my start menu, so i'm clueless.

HELP?

Actually, your Operating System which is Windows XP is not properly configured and surely due to its faults its not showing & popping up those default settings for CD's.

To regain those setting you will need to re-install your XP with a fresh new copy. If you are novice in doing it then please take help of any expert or friend. It will your ALL problems.

If this solution was helpful to you then please rate 100% (or FIXYA) for this solution, otherwise don't rate at all. It was my pleasure helping you.

My eject key is not working on my dell studio laptop

I'm guessing that you mean the CD or DVD drive. There is a little hole on the drive door. you can put an opened paper clip in that hole to open the tray. make sure there isn't anything jamming it.

Studio 15 laptop the dvd is stuck and no bezel

Try to take the disk out of the computer using the following option

Normally the studio laptops have soft eject for the CD and they dont have a button.. Press and hold the Fn key and then press the F10 key to eject the cd.. Another way is get into computer.. Right click on the DVD/cd rom drive and click on eject... This will work....

If its still not working callup Dell to fix the issue since it might be a issue with the DVD drive even

There are small plastic drive gears that respond to the drivebelt. These gears are very fragile and may have come out of syncronization.

''D'' drive will not read or acknowledge CD when inserted.

Since you are able to put the CD in the drive, that means there is power. Therefore, there are no issues with the cable. So:
1. Try reading your CDs on a different computer. If you CDs are readable, that means there's something wrong with your drive. If not, there's something wrong with your CDs.
2. If you have conclude that it is indeed your CD drive that's not functioning properly, try restarting your computer then navigate to the CD drive to see if your computer detects it. If not, replace the CD drive.
