Ariens 20/48 zero turn left wheel dont want to go.

My mower was doing fine i finished my lawn and then the left wheel decides it is done. It tries to move when activated in either direction but it just will not go. I cant find any way to check the fluid or filters if it has any. any ideas or solutions will be greatly appreciated as i really dont want to have to cut my yard with a weed eater.

Sealed units factory, take the wheel off see if the key has broke looks like a flywheel key but longer may have sheared stopping the movement of that wheel

Check the tension in the belt! I thought my pump was bad too. But I found that the belt was slipping on the left pump. See if you can move the idler arm to put more tension on the belt. My Idler arm froze and I tapped it with a hammer and it tightened the belt and it was like new again. Could be you need new belts as well.

Hope that helps.

I am also having problems with the tension on the blades as well. In that case the spring is completely compressed so no tension is on the blades and if there a small load on them it slips as well. It looks like they re-drilled a new location for the idler spring bolt see:

My craftsman 190cc 625 series lawn mower stopped and a friend said that there is a pin that drops when the mower blade gets caught and stops, I'm really in need of help on how to get to the pin if possible...

Wow it's a lot of work it's called the fly wheel key that is sheard. In every case like this you have to make sure you remove the spark plug or uncap the spark plug. Remove the pull cord assembly and then use a pipe or wooden board to keep the blade from moving underneath the mower. VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO USE A CLAMP TO HOLD DOWN THE CLUTCH BRAKE AND DO NOT REMOVE IT TILL YOUR FINISHED OR YOU'LL BRAKE OFF THE BRAKE FOOT ON THE LEVER. Use a breaker bar to remove the bolt holding the fly wheel down. Now here is the hard part. The fly wheel is made of aluminum and can brake easily as well as the fly wheels blades. If it cracks or the fly wheel blade is cracked or broken it's junk. If you don't have a Briggs and Straton puller you can use a lug wrench and pry the fly wheel up. You must first place the nut back on the 1 inch bolt on the center shaft so the threads are not showing at the top of the drive shaft. You have to hit the nut on the center hard but not like to hard to brake anything. After you get the fly wheel off you have to use the model and serial number to get the key from a lawn mower shop. Place the key under the fly wheel and very carefully watch to see if it lines up as you push the fly wheel down. Push it down from side to side so it fits flush. Tighten the bolt. Don't start it first see if when you pull the pull cord it moves with out pulling the rope back into the mower. You'll have to make sure the top bolt is tight like maybe 60 pounds. MJ

My toro zero turn seems to overheat and stops moving from left side about half hour it runs fine.?

First check to see if you have any leaks especially on the problem let side. This includes the wheel motor. where hydro oil comes out, air can go in. either way it sounds like you need to take your pump out and open it up and check for metal inside. If you do not have any metal inside check the 5 pistons to see if they are stuck. What series hydro pump do you have?

Craftsman Lawn tractor - When turning to the left the Left front wheel turns much farther then the right front wheel does on a hard right turn. Almost perpendicular to the tractor. Busings are brand new....

I've noticed this on other Craftsman and MTD mowers. The ones with the one main steering rod from the steering wheel to the left wheel and a connecting rod from the left wheel to the right wheel. I think that since we are advised to mow in a counter-clockwise direction, they design the mowers to turn tighter towards the left. It's in the design just like you suspected.

Mower starts up fine then moves fine for about 20 feet then slows up and eventually stops moving. Also, the hydrostatic relief valve will not allow the mower to move freely

The wheels are adjusted too low causing the mower to cut the lawn very short. This will cause the blade to jam and eventually stall. Adjust the wheels so the deck is higher off the lawn and try again.

18.5 hp MTD lawn tractor has some type of transmission problem. Will not move causing belt to slip and burn. When rear wheels are jacked up and wheels are turned by hand they turn in opposite directions

When the back wheels are on the ground...can you push or pull the mower??

If not, the brake is jammed and needs to be repaired/replaced
