Thank you but thats not the problem.

The switch is working. the motor is runing but machine is making noise. Could it be the coupling? or clutch? It does agitate and pump water out of machine, Can the coupling be broken and still agitate but not spin?

Most of these spin related problems are attributed to a lid switch malfunction. A washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.

I apologize for that kwityn. Yes, the other logical choice, and common cause, is a broken motor coupling. If the washer will still fill, but won't agitate or spin, BUT will still drain (this is the key clue) you have a broken motor coupling. The coupling is located between the gearcase (transmission) and drive motor. This takes the place of a drive belt. It is common for these couplers to wear out with age and frequency of use. It is a fairly simple and inexpensive repair. The following link explains:

I hope this leads you in the right direct this time. Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool, so these instructions will apply. The part number for the replacement coupler is included in the link. This is for the new improved coupling that is more resilient and resists breaking. If you have any questions along the way, please let me know.

I have a Roper ras7133kq1, top load washer. About 3 months ago I replaced the lid switch because it wouldn't drain or spin. Now it will ONLY spin, it won't fill with water or agitate, the only way...

If it won't fill you will need to replace the "water inlet valve" on the back of the unit. The unit will only agitate if it gets the signal from the water level pressure switch.
Here is the valve to order.

Roper washer RAX4232PQO doesn't agitate or spin

It sounds like you may have a broken motor coupling. This is a common problem that usually occurs through normal wear and tear. Replacement couplers are more resilient and resist breaking much better. If the washer will fill, will not agitate or spin, but will still drain, these are the symptoms of a broken motor coupling. The accompanying noise of the motor engaging and a rattling/grinding sound is also a common symptom. This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385252-replacing_motor_coupling_whirlpool_top

The part number is included in the link I provided. You can purchase a replacement on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool and uses Whirlpool parts, so these instructions will apply.

Will fill and drain, not agitate or spin though

I am having the exact same problem with the same brand machine.  I put in a load of clothes to soak till the morning, but in the morning, the washing machine would only fill, spin, and drain.  The agitator would not wash the clothes, so they came out with the soap of course still crusted in.

If the agitator does not spin at all, then it is your motor coupling. If the agitator tries to spin but cannot, then it is your dog agitators.
