Glws1740as4 is the model number
Hello friend, thanks for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire top load washer, GLWS1740AS4, will spin but not agitate. It sounds like it could be an issue with the timer not allowing the cycle to advance or it could be an issue with the transmission in your washer. I would advise seeking additional assistance from a technician who could come out and diagnose the appliance properly, since it could one of two issues. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt
SOURCE: Whirlpool washer will not agitate
For a whirlpool kitchen aid, kenmore and inglis. The top section(clothes mover) of the two piece agitator is removed by first pulling off the agitator cap then removing the inner cap. Underneath those there is usually a 7/16? bolt which will need to be unscrewed. Once removed, the top agitator half can usually be pulled straight up to access the agitator kit components.
At this point you can make the repair of the defective parts.
Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or

SOURCE: Old Washer won't spin or agitate
You found a belt? Most w/p washer do not have a belt they are direct drive. take off the pump and motor to replace the motor coupling, 2 plastic pieces w/ a rubber in between
SOURCE: washer fills with water then stops, won't agitate or spin
There are two possible causes. The most likely cause is the lid switch, which is supposed to keep you from sticking your hand into the moving basket. On many washers this only keeps the machine from spinning, but on other models it prevents agitating as well. The other possibility is the water level switch, but that usually causes no filling or overfilling if it's bad.
Both parts are available from Sears (www.searspartsdirect.com) and many other online sources. (I normally use the Sears site to find a part number if I don't already know it, then search for that number on Google. It's a great way to find good prices on more costly parts.) There are also a number of sites with detailed information about how to remove the cabinet to get at the parts if you want to try doing it yourself. Replacing these parts is pretty simple if you're comfortable with a screwdriver and have some mechanical ability.
If you'd rather have someone else repair the machine, this would normally be about a 1 hour plus parts charge for an appliance technician. It isn't time for a new washer yet.

WASHER FILLS WITH WATER, THEN WON'T AGITATE. TURN KNOB TO SPIN AND IT DRAINS THEN SPINS. STILL WON'T AGITATE please show me a diagram
SOURCE: The washer fills agitate but won't spin & drain
Possible fault with the program controller unit. You need to check the program cycle outputs using a multimeter connected to measure the output voltage. On start the inlet should open and then close as the water level sensors works and then proceed to wash. So this much seems OK. Now in the next step the drain valve must open to drain off, then fill once again with the inlet working and water level being sensed. If there is no output in this section cycle then the prrogram controller has errors within the memory . You can remove the panel and reset all connectors and connections.
