Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Our online Support pages for DC04 contain all the information you might need to know to resolve issues with your vacuum in the event of a breakdown: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control

Although it's an online guide, and is designed to be navigated quickly and easily via your web browser, the pages could also be printed out if you wanted a hard copy.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further information or advice, please give our freephone UK Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298.

Hi.

Check mains lead where it enters machine very common for internal fracture.

To prove this try waggling lead with machine switched on if it starts & stops this is the fault.

SOURCE: Dyson dc04 motor runs but has no suction.

I would make sure it is the motor first by isolating the sounds to just the motor. Take off the dirt cup, both filters, and belt, then run it and see if the sound is still there. If it is, you need a new motor. If it isn't, you need to look for a clog, or bad roller bearing.

To take the motor out first undo the wiring running down the backside of the unit inside of the switch housing. Then take the four screws out that hold the outer motor housing on, and the rest pops apart. Once you get inside, the gaskets make it a really tight fit, so you might have to hit the motor shaft with a rubber mallet to get it out and use penetrating oil on the bottom gasket to get the new motor to slide back in.

I guess there is no easy explanation. Let me know how it goes.

Dyson repair manual

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

In the link below you will find the user manual for your Dyson DC04:
http://www.manualslib.com/manual/534385/Dyson-Dc04.html

Here a few repair tips to make fixing vacuum easier. Your Dyson brush-roll is connected to the motor by two different sized geared belts. Over time, the belt's gears wear down and stretch out losing the grooves and tension that turn the roller. Another reason why your brush is not spinning could be there is debris stuck on the roller and/or bearings. You can either use a can of compressed air to remove the debris or simply remove it with your hand.

You can purchase direct your replacement Dyson Parts from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10
