your drive belt that turns the self propelled unit is worn or stretched and not turning the gears. or the gears themselves are worn down causing them not to engage. check your belt first that is most likely your problem. hope this helps
I'd check your blade and see if it needs sharpening. The mulching mowers need to cut then vacuum the grass up and then cut it again. They must be properly sharpened for this process to work properly. James
Yes it can be fixed. Try some basics first.
1) Check under belt drive cover for excess debris
2) Belt and Idler pulley condition
3) Control cable operation
a) rusted, frozen, broken, disconnected
Take the three screws out of the belt cover. One screw in behind each back wheel. The other is under the mower near the shaft to blade. Remove the tension spring off the transmission. Then remove blade and the cover comes off. You then can put the belt back on. Sounds like fun don't it!
