There's no internal fuse, it is in the plug (UK version anyway). Not sure on US version.
If the unit is dead it could be several things. Bag and brush roller not fitted correctly you can check this yourself, motor brushes worn out, broken power cord etc.
Their is no fuse inside motor, see if power coming through cable first if so, the problem will be either the power switch or the armature, the power switch is the easy one of the 2 to replace. if you need any further help email me back.

Hi There, Could be a number of differant things really. Just check that the both the safety switches are being activated but other than that it will need to go to a repair center. Many Thanks Chris www.elidistribution.co.uk

There is no fuse in the Kirby. There are few things that you want to check:
1. Cord - most likely cause. It may not be damaged but wires inside may have snapped if it got between doors.
2. Safety switch inside - no easy way to check. We usually just put a new one in and see if it solves the problem.
3. Motor - very unlikely that something is wrong with the motor - those are very hard to kill.

I would check the brush roller and make sure it turns good and replace the belt on it . When you smell burning rubber most of the time it is the belt .
