Question about Mitsubishi WD-52531 Television

1 Answer

Same problem with Mits WD-52531

I replaced the lamp which had died. Now the TV turns one, the green light is displayed for a few seconds and it shuts down. Sometimes the red led comes on but not always. Every now and then it will work but mostly it doesn't come one. This set is only two years old.

I checked the access door and the lamp assembly. Everything is seated properly but I reset everything just in case. Hit the reset button and same results, the green led flashes for a bit, then glows green then the set shuts down.

The first thing to try is to reclose the access door to the lamp area. There are interlocks there that may be marginally connected. Try to reclose all access doors and report the results here.

Thanks,
Dan

Mitsubishi 73 inch. green light blinks for a few seconds then the status light stays on. can hear a clicking noise when the green light is blinking. Replaced the lamp and that does not fix anything.

Mits has had an excessive number of problems with color wheels in some of their optical engines. Provided you replaced the lamp with OEM parts I would suspect the color wheel is causing the noise as well as the shutdown issues.

Mitsubishi WD-52531 not working after replacing the buld.

Check to make sure the lamp is in correctly and that you've closed everything up properly. If you don't close the cover, the sensors will tell the computer in the TV that the door is open and won't let the TV turn on.

Other than that, could be a bad lamp or bad ballast.

Always buy OEM lamps, or better-than-oem equivalents! Philips lighting is the best lamp manufacturer out there for these TVs. They invented the thing!

Buy from Authorized distributors, and don't buy the "cheap" stuff. savnig 20 bucks will cost you more in the long run--believe me!

Lamp light turns red

Yes this is the signal for a bad lamp. Other things can cause this. 1. Look at the new lamp. make sure it still looks good. not broken with little glass pieaces in it. 2. When you turn on the tv, put your ear to the lower back part of the tv near the middle. Listen for the start up of the color wheel (a low high pitch sound only at the start up of the motor). If this is good you will here a ticking sound only if the lamp dose not light.

Now with all this info. If the lamp lights (as seen from the back of the set) and goes out after a few seconds and you did not here the color wheel spin up, the color wheel is bad.

If you here the color wheel spin up and no ticking sound, the Ballast is bad.

The ballast part no. 939P978010

The color wheel is not avialable from Mits. You will have to replaced the light engine. It cost to much. Just buy a new tv.
