I have a gateway with Hardware ST9120824A ATA Device and optiarc DVD RW AD 7530A ATA Device. It will oly work here and there and it shows it is working properly. Where can I find updated drivers for this for free?

TheST9120824A ATA Device is your hard drive. The other is your DVD drive. Are you saying that one of these doesn't work part of the time (files won't open or take too long to open, errors on start up or when opening files, repeated rhythmic ticking noises when you try to open a file or program, etc.)? If you have one of these symptoms with the hard drive, and you are confident that your system is not infected with a virus or Trojan Horse (fix this first!), than get an external storage device (USB flash drive or hard drive) ASAP and back up your critical documents. Some day very soon your hard drive will quit completely, and your documents will be gone. Your Device Manager properties may say it's working properly, but that only happens at a time when the hard drive is working (you can't load the System control panel if it isn't!). The driver routines for the hard drive and optical drive are built into your operating system, so if there are any updates, they would probably be included in a Windows Update.
