Question about Magellan Maestro 3225 Car GPS Receiver

Same Problem here

I get the same USB connected message when I connect either the car or the house charger into my Maestro 3225. They both still charge the battery, you just can't bypass the screen to navigate. I can only navigate on battery power. I don't think it's dust on pins.

Thinks car charger is a usb adapter

I feel you might have one of two faults here ether or so do not shoot the messanger.

1. Bad card chrger
2. Failed chrging element inside (usb controller)

I work on these things for people to have enought expertise and working knowledge to let you know what it could be and for you to make the choice to check it. Do this

Plug it into a computer if it does charge replace the car adaptor you be glad you did. If it does not charge on the usb take the unit it for repair. Now if this is under warranty take it in to have it repaird.

Unable to charge the 3100. If charged via car

the Magellan Maestro can not be charged using the USB connection.

make sure green light is on if using the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

The following Magellan 800,860,2000,2200t,2500,3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port.

you can get it repaired here
or buy the port here

My Magellan maestro 3225 wont charge or start up

Same here - the problem, at least with mine, is that the power pin on the unit has become loose and not making contact with the machine - thus will not charge most likely from pluging and unplugging it in multiple times and breaking the connection inside the unit - FWIW, this GPS a real piece of **** and I have already replaced it with a Garmin- I'm trying to figure out how to take it apart to see if I can solder the power pin back in place but it is not as easy as removing the 4 back screws...

Charge Problem

Hello guitarman249,

It sounds like a bad battery. Theoretically, it could be the charger but if the red light on the charger still comes on when the unit is plugged in then the battery is the more likely culprit. The only way to really know for sure is to try charging the unit with a different cable, such as the USB cord used to connect the GPS to a computer. The GPS should charge when connected to USB. If it doesn't, then it's the battery.

Like most GPS receivers, the battery on this one is not replaceable by the user. If you do determine that the battery is causing the problem you will need to contact Magellan tech support to arrange a battery replacement.

Best Regards,

Maestro 3250 Charging

I accidentally ran into this problem today when I inadvertantly plugged the wrong charger into the unit. I'm guessing that the device isn't getting the precise current it's expecting and thus thinks it's plugged into a computer. I'd suggest getting hold of a different charger and see if the problem goes away.
