DO THE DORA DANCE, I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT YEAH!!!!!!!
    OK! I'M A GRANDMA - BUT..................................

I figured it out quite by accident today - kinda the last straw to my frustration and lo and behold, I have my youtube converted videos on my Philips GoGear Vibe 4G. It was too easy and I feel really stupid but here goes and you will be quite amazed how easy it is. If you find a program on the internet - free - to convert youtube to ipod - go ahead and do that. Pull up itunes and it should go in there - mine does automatically. Pull up the Philips Songbird which you should have already downloaded for your player, if not, just look up the Philips Songbird and download it for your player. Plug in your player in your USB port (if not already there). OK, now while itunes is up, drag the video you want into the video file of your player - just drag the file name into the big open box that is open when you click on GoGear Video. It will show downloading. At first you'll think, here I go again, but really, really, really, your videos magically appear on your player when you actually disconnect it and turn it on. I'm no techy, but I never stop trying to get something right until I get it - and today I did.

First: Get the video you want converted to ipod - easy, free programs on internet.
Second: Open itunes (or it will open itself if you use it) and the video you just converted will appear in there.

Step 1: Download the Philips Songbird for YOUR player and plug in your player so it downloads the applications and stuff to get it current.

Step 2: While in Songbird, click on the Videos selection that is named under Philips GoGear Vibe - there will be no videos there yet.

Step 3: While that is up - itunes will be up too. Double click on the video you downloaded in itunes and DRAG it over to the empty listing of videos in Songbird. The video won't appear until it's downloaded but you can see the little timer beside the Philips word going round and round until it appears in the dragged list.

There is your video. Disconnect your player and it will be updating and go to videos and there it is. Just like magic. I am so happy.

I'm not good at telling people how to do this so it may sound jumbled but I promise you it is that easy. All that time wasted on these other programs just to try to convert it, and there it was - two whole steps.

    Good luck!

The video format had to be a .smv file for Phillips GoGear Vibe player. You'll need to jump through some hoops to transfer videos into a low-resolution SMV video format.

The best and most reliable video converter tool that I've ever used is a tool called Enolsoft Video Converter. It's able to convert all videos between various formats. Easy to use and professional. You can use it for Phillips GoGear Vibe.

What video format does it have to be to put a video on a phillips go gear vibe?

I guess it as to be a .smv file. But when you rename the end part of the video witch is the video format, I don't think it actually converts the video to an .smv. Sorry this wasn't helpful.

    Hi All,
I just bought the 8gb Vibe deal from Phillips for my wife today. They're about $60 at WalMart. I ran into this same problem with video. I googled and read all of these pleas for help.

Then I got a directory full of random humor videos I'd collected off the net and tried to import them into SongBird. Only 6 worked. So then I sync'd those 6 to the Vibe and they played just fine.

So I copied off a couple of those 6 from the Vibe to my linux box and viewed them in Movie Player, then looked at the properties. It lists the video codec as "JPEG Still images" 128x96, 30 fps. The Audio codec was listed as DVI/IMA ADP... something., Stereo, 22050 Hz.

Anyway, here's the solution I found. It's actually really easy. Go get the Windows Freeware called Format Factory. At this writing, the latest version is 2.60. Then, inside Format Factory, select "All to Mobile Device". In the list of devices you'll find a section for Phillips and under there is a single entry called SAxxx. Select that, keep all the rest at defaults and convert all of your videos that you want to view on the Vibe. By default, FF puts the resulting files in a directory called FFOUTPUT in My Documents. They'll all now be mp4's. Then just import that directory into Songbird's Media Library, and sync them to your Vibe. It'll convert them further for the device. I found that anything you can get compatible enough for Songbird to import, it can then convert for the Vibe.

Good luck and happy watching all of your 2 hour long movies at 128x96!!

I don't think my wife is really going to be doing much if any video on it. I just wanted to figure it out for her cause the device said it was supposed to be able to do it. ..and I'm a techy.. hehe

Which video will Philips Gogear 4gb support

    http://www.online-convert.com

Use this online converter. It works for me.

Set the resolution to: 128x128 pixels

512 kbps for the video bitrate

and the frame rate: 30 per sec.

Its no t necessary for the audio quality, it works on mine.

p/s: use the songbird to transfer the .mp4 file to your device.

I can't convert my videos to the format that the Philips GoGear Vibe can support.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. Batterylife,GoGear Vibe 4GB how long between each charge, getting 5 to 6 hours.

The battery life is rated at 25 hours for audio and 4 hours for video. If the charge is not holding you can try ensuring device is secured while charging. If this does not work the battery is bad and should be replaced. This is not horrible news, batteries for the GoGear Vibe 4GB are only $10.00.
