Sounds like the paper detecter is not reading. either you need to check for more stickers to remove (the ones that are on it during tranport(usually orange, note: do not remove information stickers, eg warranty or specs)) or call for warranty support.

Problem paper jam printer brother no mfc-490cw

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

"No paper Fed"

Check the paper cassette and make sure the paper stop is flush up against the paper if it's not push it up against the paper and try again to print.

I have a brother copy/fax/print MFC 5860. i am unable to print. no paper jam..the screen reads: no paper fed #2. reload paper, then press start. i have paper in both paper trays and have autoselect...

lower paper feeder is out of position. you have to open the printer and get to the lower paper tray feeder. push the plastic gear wheel and axe into position again.

Brother all-in-one printer

According to page S-1 of the Specifications chapter of the Users Manual, the maximum paper weight that the MFC-3240C can tolerate is 80 g/m². This section of Wikipedia's article on Paper says that anything over 160 g/m² ranks as card stock, which includes your 180 g/m² matte paper. Card stock has choked just about every inkjet printer into which I've seen it fed, but even if that was not so, you are still using paper that is more than twice the "legal limit."
