I have a Jensen sub with my home theatre system. It'll make random burst of bass even after the tv has been turned off or if it's gone a while without any music where it's needed. It drives me crazy. It's like a random giant burp.
Is there an adjustment on the sub itself or in the audio set-up to prevent this from happening? My product wasn't listed below.

My home theatre sub woofer ( Jensen ) works when it feels like it. If I turn the mains power off and let it power down, then swithch it back on, it works ok for about 20min. After that time, no bass is emmitted. It drives me crazy. It is the same going from the TV to the DVD.

Sounds like you have a loose signal lead. Check to see if this cab be tightened if not replace the cable as this could be the cause of the problem. Over time the leads/plugs do loosen especially on subs as they vibrate so much. If it's not this then it's probably something internal to which I am reluctant to advise you on looking at yourself unless you are pretty proficient with electronics :P
