Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a mp170 printer with an error message waste ink absorber is full. I have removed and ultrasonically cleaned the pads and also cleaned the surrounding area. I cannot reset the printer to overcome the error code.

Unfortunately your solutions did not work it seems cannon are keeping the fix for this problem in house. I have tried all your suggestions including the download one which definitely did not work. The program did not work so I gave up gave it to a Cannon agent and now it is fixed for $49.95 Aus. I did this after speaking to a Cannon problem advisor so it seems Cannon have managed to keep problem solutions in-house pretty much like what is happening in the Automotive industry in Australia.
Good Luck in the future but it seems you are only guessing

Received message ''the waste ink absorber is full'' What can I do?

You will have to replace the waste ink pads. There should be two of them on the right under the print head in rubber containers. It could be a messy job though. I think the pads on that printer has a metallic strip for detecting full condition. So you can't reuse the pads even if you clean them up.

Mp170 waste ink absorber full

The waste ink absorbers on this machine are under the print engine and cover the entire bottom of the printer. You have to have access to the diagnostic program on the printer to reset the error codes.

How do you find the waste ink collector on a printer/scanner ?

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.

The waste ink absorption pads are inside the printer, in the very bottom. They are usually soaked with ink when full and are very messy.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you.
