Sony TV won't turn on :-(

Hello there, I have a Sony kv-40xbr800 and when you try to turn it on it sounds like it's going on, but instead the red standby light just flashes. I have seen SEVERAL other posting on Google where others are having this problem with the same tv. Do you know if there is a way to fix this?

Had similar issue with my Sony. I tried unplugging the TV for 2 days. When I plugged in and turned on, it worked. However, my wife shut it off with the TV clicker, instead of just shutting off the cable and it has been 3 days and it won't come back.

If you get it to work, try not to shut it off from the TV clicker.

Had my Sony for two and half years would not turn on and stby light flashes six times. Replace 5 volt reg on H card. $300+ to repair. 1 year and 1/2 later same Tech replaced same component but it did not repair set. Said I needed
to replace H card est cost of repair $600, that's when TV became a 230 LB desk. Replaced with Samsung 1080p 40" LCD flat panel. Great picture, great contrast ratio. Sony was model KV 36HS510. It was only 1080i but had a comparable picture. Paid $1375.00 for TV new and got only 2 and 1/2 years service. Not acceptable money output per use ratio. Sony needs to address this issue or it will affect sales at some point. Quality is not what it used to be. Had nothing but Sony's for 20 years will not buy another.

I have a Trinitron KV-40XBR800. Won't come on.

the indicator lamp flashes a determined amount of times then there is a pause, then lights the same amount of times again, by what you describe there is a power supply or a deflection circuit problem.

Sony Wega 40" TV will not turn on, standby light blinks 6 times repeatedly

Hello,For model KV-40XBR800,

Pls check following area.

Low HV Shutdown:
On the D Board.
Check IC8004/pin 7 should be 7.4v.
Check IC8006/pin 2 should be 2.5v if lower will trigger shutdown by causing pin 1 to turn on.
Check IC8006/pin 3 reference voltage 2.2v.
IC8006/pin 1 normally at 0v. If high
turns D5007 ON which turns the latch circuit Q6532,
Q6530, and Q6527 ON and turns the AC relay RY6501 OFF.

And NOTE: 6 blinks also can be Low B+ protection.

Unregulated 7.5 v from the power supply to 5v reg IC504 on the A Board. 5v to M Board Q2314

to CPU IC2300/pin 43. If 5v missing set will shutdown with 6 blinks.

Good Luck

Exact same problem. KV-40XBR800 wont turn on, blinks six times. I am in the process of changing both Ic's part# MCZ3001D with part# MCZ3001DB. Ordered them frm ebay and waiting for the new parts to arrive.
here are the pictures of both chips and after i removed them from the d board.
As soon as i receive the new ones i will put them in. I can't wait to see what happens and i wanted to say thanks to all of you out there for putting this thing up. Thank you very much.
