I would mix at 32:1. Most for the last several years recommend (by government intrusion) a ratio of 50:1 but that only serves to shorten the life of the equipment due to poor oiling & increased friction/wear. In spite of what many think, the lower ratio will not quickly foul the plug and it will extend the life of the unit.

Need to know the gas and oil mixture for a Homelite 2 cycle weed wacker

Check your manual for the proper gas-and-oil mixture. For almost all modern two-stroke engines, a 50-to-1 mixture is recommended. That requires about 2 1/2 oz. oil for every gallon of gasoline.

Gas oil mixture

The header says that it is an electric saw which would only require bar oil. A 2-stroke gas engine, however, does require fuel mixed with a modern saw oil at 40:1 ratio plus bar/chain oil in it's own tank as well. Always premix the fuel and oil in a separate can and shake well even before filling the saw. Hope this helps!

I inherited a super xl automatic 04541447 from my deceased father and do not have a manual. Can you tell me the correct mixture for the gas?

Use 40:1 mix. Make sure to use only modern synthetic saw oils and premix in a separate can before use. Good luck!

What is the proper oil to gas ratio for a Homelite 16 inch 150 Automatic that is approximately 40 years old?

Most of the old Homelites were 32:1. I eliminated the mix problem for all my equipment when I started using a synthetic 2-cycle oil called OPTI-2. Somehow it works for all 2-cycle saws/trimmers/blowers etc. I've got equipment that's 20+ years old and still running strong with the OPTI-2.

What is the oil/gas ratio for this model chainsaw? I left my manual at our previous address. Thanks

Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 2gal premium/8oz chainsaw 2-cycle engine oil - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (1gal premium/2.6oz Stihl 2-cycle engine oil)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few weeks. Anything over 1.5 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH
