Question about Gateway HD2200 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Same There is just something wrong with the backlighting. I have the same exact problem as everyone else except if i turn my monitor on and off about 20 times it will eventually work untill i turn it off for more than 2 or 3 hours. If you turn it on and you see the backlight and then everything blanks out, you can look very closly at your monitor and see your login screen or desktop or whatever you had up. I was able to logg in and open progames, but still completely unusable as i had to sit 2 inches from the screen and squit at my monitor

Benq fp222w monitor switches on but black screen no backlight what parts need replacing to fix pls

If there's no backlighting but you can see the image anyway, then your monitor might have a defective inverter. The inverter is responsible for providing power to the backlight, so if it is defective, the light won't work and it might need to be replaced.
An LCD inverter looks something like this:

You can easily find inverters for sale online, but be careful: you have to find the exact same inverter for your monitor, or it may not work.

Using my hanspree jm01-22 through vga cable alls fine except lack of brightness on the screen, ive turned the brightness and contrast up on the monitor and its still fairly dark, appreciate any help

It does sound like it had logic issue that seding the dimming command to the backlight inverter circuits to dim down the lamps. Yoy may have to look inside.
Please look here to see what ususlly goes wrong with the monitors:

Screen turns on and then goes away

This is most likely a backlight related problem. If the power light stays on after the screen "goes away", then it is most likely one of two problems:

1) Something is wrong with your power/inverter board. Most likely you will need to replace bulging or bad capacitors on the power board. They will like have voltages between 16-25V and capacitances of 470-1000uF. You will need to disassemble the monitor, remove its power board, and inspect it. If you notice bad capacitors, you will need to desolder them from the board and solder on new compatible ones. This should solve the problem.

2) If replacing the capacitors doesn't solve the problem, the problem may be with your backlights themselves. If you are able to test them, that would be best. Replacing them is a pain as you will have to disassemble the LCD panel itself to get them out. You will then have to replace them with compatible backlights of the same size, which you can salvage from similarly sized broken monitors.

Keep in mind that the suggested actions above are for individuals with some experiences in soldering and repairing circuit boards or LCDs. Also be sure to wear anti-static gloves or wristband and keep the monitor unplugged when performing the above stated actions (except of course when testing voltages).

I'm using a Samsung T240HDTV. The screen goes to very dark frequently so that I can hardly see the image, after I turn it on. I guess may be something wrong with the backlight. Can somebody help me out...

The problem is probably not with the backlight, rather the inverter that powers the backlight. If you open the back of the lcd so that you can see the circuit board you might see several bulging, or blown capacitors. This is a common problem with lcds. If you replace the capacitors the problem should go away.

Backlight out on Philips 200WB monitor

It sounds like the inverter is out on the power supply for the backlights. If you can open the monitor and take a few pictures of the boards and send them to I will try to cross reference the boards and give you a repair solution.

Hello. I have a Dell Inspirion 5100 Laptop that runs XP. The laptop was overheating and as a result, would shut off randomly. So, I took the keyboard off and cleaned the heatsink of all dust and dirt. ...

if the screen's backlight comes on then you may have damaged something on the motherboard such as the video card/adapter. if the backlight on the monitor doesnt come up it should just be a connection issue or the monitor itself is bad and you need to order the oem part and install it.

Problem with the acer al1916w

Sounds like the backlight or inverter might need replaced. It's pretty common on LCD monitors. It's best to call a local repair shop to do that unless you know what you're doing.
