Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook

1 Answer

IBM t43 fn f5 does not toggle wireless on. Reinstalled windows last week and wireless adapter is not recognized. I loaded proper drivers, but the adapter is not even seen by the operating system.

Should have said I downloaded both drivers already in the original post. Same problem - I hit FN+F5 and the bluetooth toggles on & off. No wireless. No wireless card even recognized by the system - only my wired Ethernet card.

There are 2 wireless cards for this model. Be sure you have the correct one. Here is a link to download both of them: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-58597.html#wireless

Ican not locate a switch for wireless network for my ibm thinkpad T43

IBM T43-----Keyboard combination-----Fn + F5-----Click "Turn On"

If you can't find it as a function key and it isn't a hardware switch along the front or side edge, you can always turn off wifi in network and sharing by going to adapter settings or use device manager to disable the device via control panel or computer management.

How to turn on the wireless switch on my IBM T42

There isn't a switch on the T42. (I'm using one to write this). the Function (Fn) key toggles the adapters but only if the correct utility is loaded. That is on the lenovo site called 1qkcb9ww or 8jvu12ww. Not sure which controls those features. If Fn+F5 doesn't do it...
You otherwise usually get that message when there is a network adapter conflict and sometimes if the driver has become inactive which it does not too often. Try first disabling any other network adapters like Ethernet and maybe even the infrared network adapter though I doubt that could be it. Mine is disabled anyway. Do this in 'Network connections' from control panel for the Ethernet or with Device manager (Systems>hardware>device manager) if you never use a wired connection. If that doesn't help try reinstalling the drivers from the Lenovo site.

Wireless option is not working in Lenovo Y410 . I have formatted my laptop after that i have intstalled the corresponding XP drivers properly still Laptop not able to recognize the Wireless connectoin in...

you have to install Lenovo Energy Management, to download click here then restart the computer after the installation. Once logged back in to Windows press Fn+F5 on the keyboard to enable toggle for wireless connections. If still does not work, follow these steps:

• click start, go to run and type services.msc then hit enter
• look for wireless autoconfig on the services list and double click it
• set type to automatic and start the application under the General tab
• click apply then OK
• restart the system
• once back into Windows try to connect to your wireless network

Hope this works! :)

Wireless radio control problem

Try going into the Device Manager and making sure the Wireless Adapter is enabled. Click Start > Control Panel > System. Click the Hardware tab then click the Device Manager button. Now click the Plus [+] next to Network adapters then double-click the wireless adapter which is probably the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection which will open the Properties dialog. Ensure the Device status reads, "This device is working properly" and Device usage shows "Use this device (enable)." If either the Device status or Device usage shows anything other than what is shown above, first try to change the Device usage, which should change the Device status. Now try again to use your wireless adapter. You might need to press Fn + F5 to turn the device on.
