My sons John Deere gator intermittently stops working while he is riding it, the troubleshooting paper I have says that its a automatic circuit breaker being overloaded, caused by riding on hills, sand, mud or grass...well that is everywhere he can ride it. I can't find a replacement part anywhere online, and I was wondering if there is a way to stop it from doing this? He gets so frustrated over it lol

John Deere ride on gator HPX

Sounds like the field winding in the motor or the circuit in the accelerator pedal in going 'open' from the heat caused by the drag on the motor while a child is riding it the Gator. Tap on the 'gas' pedal assembly while running the Gator on stands so the wheels don't touch the ground and you're not trying to follow it around while the child is driving. If that's the problem it probably won't start once it stops during the test. The circuit will go 'open' completely. The motor , on the other hand, is a little harder to diagnose since you need the 'drag' cause by the Gator hauling a weight around to cause the system to get warm from current draw and 'open' up any intermittent faults. I can't remember how tough it is to get to the motor itself since the grandkids have all gotten too big to use it now, but.. if you could keep it on stands and block the 'gas' pedal so it will run, you cah try heating the motor assembly up with a hair dryer to simulate the heat caused during normal operation. If it stops.. most likely the motor windings are going open. Good luck

Peg Perego JD Gator started working intermittently and now won't move at all.

I'm thinking its probably a bad or disconnected motor, do both of the rear wheels spin when its working? and when it stops working do you hear a click noise? you can order a new motor here www.powerwheelsoutlet.com or you can contact me over the phone here and i can walk you through more troubleshooting

Do the headlights on Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX work? How do you turn them on?

no, they are just for looks, but that would be cool to add leds and wire to simple battery or flashlight. in fact my son bungee'd a flashlight to his jeep last summer.
