Broken plastic gear in lower paper feed

HP PhotoSmart C7280 All-In-One inkjet printer. When beginning to print 2-page document, paper-feed gears made noisy ratcheting sound, then loud "crunch." Piece of small plastic gear in internal paper-feeder mechanism broken off. (1) Can I fix it myself? (2) Have it repaired for a reasonable fee? or (3) Must I recycle this printer?

That sounds like a fairly simple fix - using your printer's model number, do an online search for replacement parts. If you're fairly handy, you should be able to do the job yourself. If you have a friend or relative who's handy, they should be able to do it. A typical commercial shop will probably charge quite a lot of money (possibly more than the price of a replacement printer) to do the job.

SOURCE: Document feeder works for printing but not for scanning

Hi, When you had the doucment feed jam were you able to clean or remove any paper that might be blocking the paper to be scanned? It sounds like there is paper still in the document feeder , I would open the DF and check very closely to make sure no paper is in the way!Good Luck!

SOURCE: HP Business Inkjet 1200 printer always prints the Alignment Page

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Photosmart C7280. The Automatic Document Feeder partilly feeds the sheet, then stops with page halfway into it. The ADF scanner reads the sheet but this is not pulled in by the rubber wheels or gears. It...

The problem is most likely related to the buildup of metallic dust particles on the magnetic parts of the rollers which move the paper through the machine. The paper is held tight by the magnets attraction between 2 rollers. Magnetic dust prevents the gripping from happening and the machine defaults to sensing a lack of paper.Wipe them down with a damp cloth and let dry thoroughly. Other possibility is that a gear wheel has fallen off. This is a bigger problem because they are generally attached with small plastic axles which cannot be repaired.

I have an HP C7280 AIO printer. Everytime I print, it always form feeds a blank page bewteen each printed page (print page 1, form feed a blank page, print page 2, form feed a blank page, and so on).

Generally, there are printer set up programs that will let you chose to put a blank sheet or to not do that. If you have a disk or manual, look for the set up utility and go thru the tabs to find paper handling or something similar to that. There should be a check box you can clear to stop the blank page.

I hope that this information was helpful. Have a great day.

Paper feed jams

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

HP Photosmart 3200 All-In-One not printing yellow

Step1
If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material.
Step
2
Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic.
Step
3
If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path.
Step
4
If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.

HP Photosmart 7450 stuck cartridge

not a solution, my paper feeds past the point where printer5.gif would normally begin. Then flashing light changes from green to red and print operation stops. Printer cartridge1.gif appears to be stuck in far right area of cartridge track.

Replaced drivers as above and still have the same problem.
Mine started after I had replaced the color cartridge. Mailed the old one to HP already so can't put in old cartridge.

If I unplug printer from computer, I get same results. Does the driver software install in the printer?
