I have taken it apart to check all was ok with it i bought it cheap about 5 years ago but recently had some lovely B&E wanna be kick the **** out of the box had to glue parts back on, on silicon chip on front coil was slightly damaged but everything else checked out clear, also doesn't seem like volume is working as described by many other owners, by what i can guess with my limited knowledge on this subject and just getting into fixing them myself rather than paying for a repair guy to fiddle with it i believe it to be a blown fuse which i didn't check i just moved one over to hit all contact points thinking that was the problem to begin with, i am running it through my PC hap haphazardly wired through another smaller bass boom box a blueway, any help or advice would be welcomed as to if im doing anything wrong as again stated above im new to fiddling with this sort of stuff, i have two pioneers and gennexxa speakers left pioneer has a blown or almost completely blown tweeter far as i have figured, and both genexxa have no surround lobes/ears or wather i have yet to find a local supply to re do them myself they are easy fixed and that is all that is wrong with my setup so far and what i have set up all together, no bypass i think right word is just cabled together into the left and right speaker ports into back of Sony sub leads leading from blueway into in port of sony sub, sigh... dang that's allot of info to put out but hoping you could help sort my problems out or offer some advice to my sound woe's...
SOURCE: Regarding Sony SA-WM250 Subwoofer
There is probably a bad solder joint or loose wire inside of the sub box. If you can, unplug the sub, take the screws out and remove the back to inspect the circuit board. A clean solder joint is pointed and shiny, with the solder evenly distributed in the hole. Also check to see if any plugs are loose. Plug in the audio input and then the power, but be very carefull not to touch anything inside the box while the cord is plugged in!! Play some bass at moderate volume so there is pretty constant sound. Now, take a screwdriver with an insulated handle and gently tap around on the connectors and circuit board. Tap a little harder if nothing happens, also tap in different areas to try to force the sound to cut out. You can try to locate where the bad connection may be by tapping lightly and zeroing in on the location. When and if you find the problem, you will need to solder the connection with a soldering iron. If you don't have a friend to help, try a local electronics store. Good luck!
SOURCE: I believe an amplifier problem
I had a problem with no audio and I recently found the fix. When thesub still worked and you turn it on you hear one relay click and thenabout 5 seconds later a second relay clicks and the audio comes on. Theproblem I had lies with that second relay. When you take the case apartthere are 4 circuit boards. The big board with the two big bluecapacitors is the main board. Well next to the two blue capacitors is ablue relay. That relay had a pin that came un-soldered from the circuitboard. I re-soldered that pin and the sub works just like new. If yougo here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/20627/sony_sawm500.htmlyou can find a free service manual that has the wiring schematics forthe amp. Hope this helps!

I had the same exact problem, here is what someone else suggested I do:

SOURCE: replacing sub speaker
I wouldn't try reinventing it by replacing the driver. Drivers and their enclosures are designed to work together. And this being a self-amplified subwoofer, there is one more piece that's electrically optimized to the rest. Don't mess with it.
Why don't you just set your receiver's individual relative speaker volume levels so the sub isn't weak by comparison to your other speakers? Weakness, as you call it, is relative.
Is your receiver properly channeling Low Frequencies to the sub? Experiment with the cutoff, too.
This problem doesn't require meatball surgery.

also sound is coming through left side less than right side for some odd reason...
yes no low range im thinking un soldered pre amp box the lil blue thing or fuse at this point, as for low sound coming out one side IE left side im thinking could just be the blueway on it\'s way out it was what everything was connected to to begin with ill have to get a home pre amp like what you get in a car or something ive no way to make a headphone jack go into a wire and don\'t know how to procure any of these things to just make my own one as dick smiths near me stopped selling parts which is sad :(
all wireing is fine sub woofer cable fine all sound comeing through just as stated no low range is being emitted that and the acualu sound dials dont seem to respond but i wont be able to see if that is the true case untile i figure a way of interfaceing it directly to my PC without the blueway box acting as a man in the middle so to speak
