Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

DC07 hose has plenty of suction. Main hosuing has no suction. Beater bar turns fine and works so well creates positive air pressure blowing outward instead of vacuum. Any ideas?

Main housing has no suction becouse of bloakage in it. UPLUG the unit from mains, and remove the bottom (main housing)cover. Clean all you can access and put everything back together.
In all the vacuum cleaners all the problems is caused usually by dust, and other materials blocking the airtakes. So With your unit there is no difference, It just needs dissassembling, cleaning and reassembling.

Best of luck!

In order to have suction you need air flow.Essentialy,a vacuum cleaner is trying to create a vacuum the whole time it's on.Just because the beater bar turns doesn't have anything to do with the suction. That is created inside the canister. You have an obstruction in the hose anywhere between the motor and the power brush.

Beater bar not working. suction not working

Check for a broken beater brush belt. Clean the beater brush, clear of all debris and add some WD40 at each end where the rubber holders are. Turn beater brush by hand to work the WD40 into the axle. Reassemble making sure the belt is on correctly. This should also help solve the suction problem as well.

DC07 plenty of suction but not picking up

You have either stretched or broken the belt that drives the beater bar. Replace the belt.

No suction at base...

Take the sole plate off and check for blockages - where the transparrent hose connects to the beater compartment
Are the filters clean?
Make sure the bucket is properly aligned to the main body
Make sure the inspection covers are clear and properly fitted.
They has be a blockage between the beater bar and the main hose which works ok.
Still no good?

DC07 works with the hose - but not when upright

Check the actual brush bar is moving. If it is then there's definately a clog and it could well be behind the beater bar. If you can remove the sole plate (which is the grid in front of the beater bar) then undo it and check dirt behind the beater bar, belt and main dust channel. Also check the main inspection air ways and if the beater bar is clogged with hair, clean it off.

No suction from base or hose attachment

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Eureka vacuum cleaner. I don't have the problem with the beater bar, but I had the problem with the attachment hose not getting any suction. I found out that I was putting attachment on the wrong end of the hose. The end that you use in the front. Don't how I got that confused because it always worked before. Hope this helps with the hose part of the problem.

No suction, again.

There is a blockage somewhere and its most probably jammed between the main dust channel between the beater bar and the bottom hose inspection. Remove the sole plate to see if anything is still stuck, check the beater bar as well and see if there is anything obstructing at the main hose removal point.

Take off the brush cover and check that the suction orifice is clear. Also check the rubber flaps at the bottom of the hose/handle holder is correctly positioned.

Loss of suction on carpets

Wow...this is one of the only "bad suction" examples I have seen. I do know that after I clean my DC07, I have to make sure that the adapter pieces are seated properly, otherwise there's an air gap.

Have you tried connecting the hose instead of the main part? Is suction still bad? If so...then it's the motor. If not, then go back to check the adapter pieces or see where there's a blockage...look harder.

Call Dyson...their support is terrific!
