This is normally caused by a bad component in your power supply circuitry. It is also known to happen when your secondary power array (the inverter array used for the backlighting of your lcd screen) is going bad by means of being out of the correct voltage parameters. This function is controlled by an IC chip that constantly monitors the voltage across 8 inverters all working in synch. When one of those inverters produces a voltage level that is not within the tolerances it recognizes as correct, it will shut your tv off to prevent any further damage to any other electrical components. So unless you are familiar with working on electronic components and have the tools and equipment to do so, I recommend that you have it checked out by an expert.

SOURCE: 61" plasam TV will not turn on

This is one of two problems, Bad capacitors in the power supply or your Y Sustain board has failed, I would go for the first, take the back off your tv and look for swollen or domed shaped capacitors on the power supply, They may also leak a brown liquid like substance.
Replace all that you can see and this should cure the fault.

SOURCE: 42 in LG LCD TV turns off by itself

Found that TV started switching off by itself. Would try to come on..green light blinked for 2-3 seconds, tv came on (with picture and sound) for 1 or 2 seconds and then it would turn itself off. Found that the issue is with one channel only. If you are facing this issue....try quickly changing the channel the moment it comes on. You can do it either with remote or with the TV buttons directly. also in the same logic, if this is still happening, try changing the source to another (rgb-pc, av1, av2 etc). Basically change it from whatever input it is on currently, if changing the channels does not work. My symptom was that the tv made a loud 'TIK' 'TAK' sound which is louder than normal.

Since your TV comes on and shuts off, the possiblity of the main power developing a fault on switch on to shut off as the error amp is asking it to do so.. Please check for any failure of capacitors in the HT section. use a multimeter and test voltage on switch on. make a note and test after it switches off. you will slowly arrive at the point of trouble. look for dry solder joints. use a good iron to carefully solder all joints suspected to look mushy. check the connectors of the HT drives to the panel. there could be fault in the connection resulting in slow build up and causing the error amp to react to shut off. Hope my advice helps. Good day

Samsung Plasma TV just died, some troubleshooting done already. Model Number PS64F8500

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Vizio tv sv420m need help

Sure that the other boards you used were any good? If so, then try the Power supply board since the other boards of your set other than the main board specialize in the video aspects. Since you have no audio the only two boards that could account for no audio are the main board and the PS board which powers everything in the set.

I will start from the beginning. Back in Sept. my vizio tv would just randomly turn off here and there, but would always turn back on. Mid october the tv randomly turned off and never turned back on.

Claim lightning damage, put old boards back in it, sell new boards on ebay while a shop fixes the set for free (minus deductible paid for by selling ebay boards). Tada, repaired!

Or just sell the panel on ebay and buy another tv. Don't break the panel shipping it. 25366436-l0u5xrrbjmm23votbgnhzwek-1-0.jpg

Lg 52 in lcd turns off then back on when your

The problem lies either in the power supply or the main board. But most probably it lies in the main board. These boards communicate in switching on the television sequentially. The power supply sends a signal to the main board when AC power is supplied and puts the television on stand-by. When the TV is turned on, the main board sends a switched command to the power supply to deliver it's output for audio and video processing. At the same time it turns on a supply voltage for the backlights.

What probably happened is, the signal sent by the main board to the power supply is being switched on intermittently and causing the turning on and off of your television.
  1. Remove the back cover of the television to check the power supply and the main board. The power supply is the one with transformers on it and located at the center while the main board is the one where inputs are being connected to and located at the lower right back of the television.
  2. Check the power supply for any swollen capacitor.
  3. Turn on the television and check if the LED on the main board flashes as the TV turns on and off.
Please inform me what will you find above and if you can do electronic repairs. Just tell me if you need guidance in replacing parts for your TV.
