I have a Toshiba Equium Laptop. In the past 1month i have notice the whole laptop screen, mouse pad etc is really hot to the touch. Also recently it switches its self off. Any ideas? I can hear the fan working but i dont know how to check it to make sure it works properly, i run anti virus software and do a full system scan daily. Hope you can help

Hi Thank you for your reply. I can hear to fan but there is a lot of heat coming out from it. I just blew into it and a lot of dust came out so this is most likely the problem. Its now making a funny noise so maybe its stopped working. How do i check to make sure its working correctly? Thank you once again for your time Tracey

On my laptop my curser does not always respond when i move my finger on square.what should i do when this happens.

I wonder if the computer is freezing up (meaning the computer cannot register keystrokes, mouse movements, etc. because it is busy). If you have an external mouse, try using it and see if you have the same experience. If you don't notice the problem with an external mouse, it probably indicates a problem with the touch-pad on your device (the touch-pad on your laptop).
Replacing one of these is pretty dicey for an average user, most times people either take these to a repair shop or they switch to using an external mouse. There are many nice wireless ones that run less than $40 which is what most replacement parts cost.
If you have had any work done on the unit recently, like a new keyboard, etc.) they may have bumped the ribbon cable loose inside the computer. It would be pretty each to re-seat the data cable and re-test.

T-43 Laptop - Screen freezes, mouse freezes, all functions stop..

The Touchpad is pressure sensitive, you can program the Touchpad's functionality. Go to Control Panel, click, to open Mouse Properties. Click the Device settings (block), select the Settings button; after the Touchpad Wizard appear! "View the (left) "Select an item" pane, and click to start the Touchpad's actions." Follow all the instructions carefully. I hope this Fix it

Did it work before? What was changed since? If it did, does a mouse work? If so, goto system and uninstall the pad, reconnect the pad and reboot. Driver may have been corrupted.

Frozen mouse with a touch pad laptop computer

Many laptops have a button, usually located right above the touchpad, that disables the touchpad.

And there may be drivers that need to be loaded for some touchpads to operate properly, in case you've reinstalled the OS.
