Try use another speaker if working? if working your speaker had a defect. need to repair.

try see device manager for a yellow question mark? by right click my computer > Properties >Hardware > Device Manger
then if there's a yellow question mark right click then update it online or if you have cd or make sure you install the driver of your sound card to make it work.
Hope it help you out ^_^

Ticking sound engine

Sounds like you need to have your valves checked and adjusted. Do it sooner rather than later. This can eventually cause serious damage to the engine if not taken care of.

How to express a loss as a gain in dB?

Decibel is what sound is rated in.

The sound level is expressed as a line.

0 in the middle.
Negative values are to the left, Positive values to the right.

Less DB rating to the Left, more DB to the Right.

Anything above the 0 is louder. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.
Anything below the 0 is not as loud, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, etc.

It would be correct to state a 6 DB loss as -6DB.

2004 RX 330: intermittent power steering loss, hard to turn, so...

I think you may have a problem with your electric assisted power steering motor. Is the loss in power only when your are making sharp turns to the right or left?
Do you hear any load noises or squeling sounds?
You should have it inspected, Don't want you to lose control while driving.
