Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition

1 Answer

Have a few problems and want to restore to 8 months ago prior to various downloads. I can only restore 2 months which is not solving my issue. Is there another way of choosing a restore point, never did any backups before but now have virus which is slowing me up big style. Any help?

There is no way to do it if you have no restore points that old. Back up all the current information you need and re install the operating system is the best way.

Folders missing from mail app

A shared folder is a folder that can be viewed, edited and shared with all users on a single computer or on a shared network on various computers.

Because shared folders are used by various users, someone can accidentally delete or remove the folders from their original locations.

A shared folder can also be altered if unauthorized changes have been made to the folder's structure, resulting in corrupt folder files.

Shared folders can easily be restored in a few simple clicks.
Click on the Windows "Start" button.

Click on the "All Programs" link.
Scroll to find the "Accessories" folder and click on it.

Click on the "System Tools" folder.
Click on the "System Restore" icon.

Click on the "Restore my Computer" option.
Enter the date from where the restoration will begin.

Anything deleted, broken or missing from this date will be restored during the process.
Try to recall when the shared folder was last seen or used by someone and select this date as your start date.

Choose the current date as your end date.
Click "Next" to start the restoration process.

Depending on the time period chosen, this process can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes.

Check the folder or drive where the shared folder was located prior to disappearing. The shared folder has now been restored.

Factory reset compac

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

Using Windows 7, relatively new HP Pavilion dv7. About a week ago a Memory Dump blue screen started appearing spontaneously, would stay on for only a very few seconds, then restart the computer. There...

hi

memory dump is the result of bad memory module (RAM).. remove the ram modules, look at them, make sure they are same make and part. different manufactures can often cause memory fault in a system

if that's the case, replace the memory modules . you can go to the link below and select the model you have, go to KEYWORD selection, and select MEMORY DIMM, it will then give you the part number you need to replace .

if you need more help, please don't hesitate to issue 4 thumbs and i will give you further details and cost of the modules. you can easily purchase at a link i will issue at that time.

Uninstalling problem of antivirus software

First.. install a different antivirus program while you are fixing this installation. Try microsoft security essentials or AVG.
Then.
Check your program files folder for any mention of Avast, and delete it.
Run a search for avast and delete anything you find.
Download a registry cleaner, I use CC Cleaner.
Run the cleaner and remove all the files it finds, run the registry cleaner and let it delete all the problems it finds .
IF you want to try with avast again, uninstall the other antivirus program you may have installed. then try with the Avast again

USB divice not recognized

I tried many ways to fix the problem. Someone suggesting unpluging it for 30 min. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of the camera driver. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of windows, and that didn't work.
I was running out of ideas. But I thought I might try restoring my computer to a prior date. This restore feature hasn't worked for me for 6 month. But, that day, luck was on my side.
Since I restored my computer to two weeks ago. My problem, is fixed!
