Good morning, try plugging the unit into a regular outlet. GFI outlets are notorious for tripping when used with large appliances. They are very touchy for safety reasons. A large current draw could be interpreted as a short and will trip. Hope that helps.

I don't have a Kenmore I have a Fridgidare and I have burned on foil on the bottom and cannot remove it. It is a self cleaning overn and I am afraid to turn it on??? I have tried scrapping, soaking, but...

With the older models of self-cleaning ovens one could put aluminum foil on the bottom tray of the oven, but with the newer models there is a warning (hidden in the last line) of your booklet for models of stoves where aluminum foil should 'not' be used! Even though print in small and many consumers are complaining regarding their stoves and melted aluminum stuck to the bottom tray of their oven (nothing will get it off) all manufacturer do 'not' cover this problem under warranty and thus, it will cost you money to buy a new tray. You unscrew the two screws to the bottom of the damaged tray of your oven and then install the new one and put back the screws. Letters of complaint should be written to the manufacturers to have them put this warning in clear bold print right on the front cover of the instruction brochure.

Kenmore propane range/oven tripping GFI

My bad, yours is an oven.

I found the Owner Manual, but could not find the Installation Manual. Do you have it, and does it say to hook the oven to a GFI protected power source?

Just because of the way the electronics work in the oven, and the way the electronics work in the GFI, I don't think that they work together. The oven is a permanent appliance, so I don't know of any reason it would need it.

How long have you had this oven installed, and connected to the GFI? Has anything changed, like you washed the oven down and got water inside it. Is a non GFI circuit available nearby where you could wire the oven?

Let me know what you find. It's been awhile since I looked at a new Electrical Code (NEC) book, and even with that, you local ordinances can over ride the NEC.

Fiigidaire gas oven trips power when I turn oven on

disconnect the wires going to the oven ignitor, turn the unit on see if its trips.if so the ignitor is shorted if not then disconnect the wires that go to the coil of the gas valve and do the same.i think either one of these is your problem.also if theres a fan in the oven do the same.
