Question about Dell Dimension 3100 PC Desktop

2 Answers

When I start the computer, the dell window comes on,listing the various names, etc, but the mouse freezed up and I can't click on the names to start the computer session. I've tried safe mode but that doesn't help. Any ideas? I can get the A drive on, but don't know where to go from there.

Click on Start menu.

Type the following text into the Start Search box: Aero

Click on a search result listing under Control Panel group that named as the following:

Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects

An "Aero - Troubleshoot computer problems" wizard dialog will appear. Click on Next button.

The troubleshooting wizard will try to detect any problem by running a series of checks against various components required to make Aero works and running, such as video memory, Desktop Windows Manager (DWM) service, color depth, theme, power settings and etc. At the end of the analysis, the wizard will attempt to fix the issues related to Aero service and restart the Aero feature.

After I changed that bateries in my dell m787c mouse, it wouldn't work with my keyboard anymore. How do I fix this problem?

Please read complete post before beginning. I am offering more than one solution,

Try reinstalling your mouse with the disc that came with it. You should be able to simply place the disc in the drive and click install. If you do not have the disc. You could try going to:
> Control Panel
>Depending upon the version of windows you use, (you may find the install/uninstall in different places)
> Click on Uninstall
> Click on the mouse program in the menu that pops up...be very cautious here so that you do not acciddentally uninstall a program that you want or need.
You will be given the option to uninstall/repair/install
> Click on repair.
---------------------------------------------
You might also click
>Start
>In the search box type compatibility issues
Open whatever file it gives you and check for issues for your mouse or keyboard.
Finally, check again whether the batteries are actually good. ( I would bet you have already done this)
----------------------------------------------
>Right click on my computer
>Right click on Properties
>Click on Device Manager
>find your mouse in this list(usually mouse and pointing devices)
>Right click the correct mouse
>Click Update driver and follow instructions from there.Click on search my computer for device driver first try. ( you may or may not need an update.
If neither of these options work: please write back with your operating system ( windows 7, Vista 32 or 64/windows Xp, etc. and also the make of your keyboard and model numbers if you have them.

Mouse not working at all and need help with the BIOS & how to make my mouse work

Left click start. Left click control panel. In Vista find Hardware and Sound and left click on mouse. You should get a window which allows you to set mouse functions. In XL Left click start. Left click control panel. A window should open listing various computer systems. Left click on mouse. You should get a window which allows you to set mouse functions. If you don't see mouse symbol or word, make sure the mouse software is installed. This should work. You can check on the mouse software by going to Device Manager and checking Input Devices. To do this go to Control Panel as directed above. Left click start. Left click Hardware and Sound. Find Device Manager and left click. Then, find Input Devices.

Well start a bit slower then.
go into the bios at startup F2, and navigate around does it freeze there. if no then
start windows in safe mode F8 when windows logo shows.

If its not freezing then turn off the startup programs.
Start/run/msconfig and then uncheck load startup items
and start normally, click the dont show me this again /ok
any freezing.
If its freezing you may have a hardware issue.
if you have 2 sticks of memory remove on and or /reseat them
boot the dell diagnostics cd and check the cpu and memory.
