Was using router B4 but now can't connect to web.

I have checked all connections unplugged and re-plugged all devices including broadband box from comcast. had to bypass at this time to log on. Yet when I put it back in line is says that the router is connected to the network. Try to sign on but no luck til I bypass router again. Has been working fine until I had a comcast issue now won't work.

I suggest you all contact your ISP, they may have to set up dns for your router to connect, if not we can take it from there if you let us know.

Hello
Reset the router.
1 power down pc and unplug all cables from router including power.
2 Find small reset button inback of router, use a pen tip or paperclip to hold in this button for 30 seconds.
3 Plug power cable back into router.
4 When light is on plug other cables back in.
5 Restart pc.
This should allow you to use 192.168.1.1

Also you can go to start then run in windows and type cmd then hit enter
Once box pops up type in ipconfig then hit enter.
This will show you a list of numbers, look for the one that says ip address, use it to log onto router.

Cable modem internet works when directly plugged into desktop, but when run through the router, no connectivity

Most cable Internet Service Providers (ISP) use a Media Access Control (MAC) Authentication to establish Internet connections for end-users. A MAC address is a unique 48-bit (6-byte) integer that is attached to an Ethernet NIC for each computer. To set-up your Linksys router to a Cable ISP, you have to do MAC Cloning. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the PC that's registered with the ISP.
To setup a Linksys router with Cable connection you need to perform five steps:
  1. Verifying Internet Connection
  2. Connecting the Devices Together
  3. Checking the Router's LEDs
  4. Configuring a Linksys Router for a Cable Connection
  5. Power Cycling
NOTE: Before proceeding, use the computer that can go online when connected to the modem and follow the steps below.
Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your ISP. If it can go online, the PC connected to the modem is the one that's registered with the ISP.

kb4682-001_en.png NOTE: The image may vary depending on the computer and modem you're using.
Once an active Internet connection is established through the modem, connect the modem and the computer to the router by following the instructions below.
Connecting the Devices Together
After ensuring that you have an active Internet connection, connect the modem to the router's Internet port and the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports. For instructions, click here.
After connecting the devices, check the LEDs by following the instructions below.
Checking the Router's LEDs
The Linksys router's front panel will indicate the status of the connection. After connecting the broadband modem to the WAN or Internet port, the computer to an available numbered port and powering on the router check the lights on the front panel of the router. For instructions, click here.
After checking the router's LEDs, configure the router for cable Internet. For instructions, follow the steps below.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.

-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

Asuming you are knowledgable about hooking up broadband i will guess that you know for a fact the its a good connection on the broadband routers side and there is actuall internet access and the problem is with your laptop.

If so then make sure you have the right installs.

get into your start menu at the bottom left> hover over settings>click on network connections and wait for the window to open. Right click on " LOCAL AREA CONNECTION" and select properties.

The little box should open showing a scrollable menu and say " Local area connection Properties" at the top. Make sure in the list of installed Items, you have at least the TCP/IP internet protocal installed and add version 6.

Also you can try cycling the power to your internet broadband router. Hook up the laptop, turn it on and log in, If you have a router that you are using to branch off your broadband to several computers, then unplug, wait 30 seconds and polug back in and it should register. If you are plugging directly into the Broadband router, cycle the power on it the same way.

Also make sure you are plugged into the right port on the router:)

Hope this helps.

Set up with cd on MacBook

yes you are right.. the cd which came with the router will not work with mac or vista computers..
don not worry about it, you can do a manual troubleshooting to fix this problem, i will give you a step by step procedure to fix this problem..try this out ..
To setup your router for a cable modem..
first check..
Connect the Cable modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go on line,
to setup connection..
Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go on line wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
to config your router first check this settings..
Configuring TCP/Settings in MAC OS X
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon, select Location, then choose Automatic.
Step 2:
Select Built-in Ethernet under Show.
Step 3:
Click the TCP/IP tab and select Using DHCP under Configure or Configure IPv4.
Step 4:
Leave the Search domains or Additional search domains fields blank.
Step 5:
Click Apply Now.

You should now be able to access the router’s web-based set up page and configure your router.

Accessing the Router’s Web-Based Setup Page
Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router’s IP Address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Links-ys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name space blank, type in your router’s password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.
Step 4:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click the drop-down arrow under the Internet Connection Type field and select
Automatic Configuration - DHCP.and then scroll the page down and click save settings..
Step 5:
Click MAC Address Clone you would find this sub tab at the top in the blue bar.
Step 6:
Select Enable and click Clone Your PC’s MAC.and click save settings..
Step 7:
Click Status at the to right side ion the black bar
Step 8:
Check the value of the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you’re not on-line, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem.
Power Cycling
Step 1:
Shutdown the computer.
Step 2:
Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3:
Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4:
Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5:
Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6:
Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.

Now if you are on-line wired remove the cable from the laptop and check for wireless connection

i am sure this would fix your problem in case if you have any more issues revert back to me..
