Question about Koss (10-16-004) Headphones

Open Question

No sound in right Koss HV/PRO earphone

There is no sound in right earphone. Problem seems to stem from volume control located on cord. Before sound completely stopped in right earphone ( the sound would come & go ), I had to 'wiggled/move' the cords connected to the volume controller in order to get sound to return. My problem is that I don't want to damage the volume contol box when I open it up. I am looking for a simple solution on how to open the case without damaging the unit further.

I'm afraid there's is no easy way of doing it, most headphones I have fixed needed force to get the pads of and for that matter to put them back on! It's just a case of taking great care and easing it off a bit at a time. If you encounter any foam that can be glued on afterwards with Bostik solvent free all purpose glue.

MacBook Pro mid 2011 AUX input dose not work with my headphones.. please help me.. :(

Its very rare a mac has sound problems. Some earphones consume batteries, does yours have batteries in it? and is it powered on while connecting? With the earphones connected, check system volume and increase the sound while playing music. If there is sound coming from the mac itself then there maybe an issue with the AUX connection. Possible dust blocking the port. Clean it and try again. If there is no sound coming from the mac itself while the earphones are connected, then the AUX port is connected to the earphones and is in good working condition. Increase the volume on both devices, the mac and the earphones, if it has this feature. If there is still no sound, there may be a problem with the earphones itself. Possibly bad wires already, connect the earphones to other devices and listen for sound. If still no sound, replace earphones.

Left earphone has lower volume than right

Maybe you can try adjusting the plug, or the wire within the left earphone is rusted, or change the sound effects on a computer.

My old KOSS TD/60 Stereophones have a broken cable right near the earphone entry point. How can I open the earphone to repair or replace the cable?

I figured that that the earphones were pretty old, so if my 'repair' didn't work I would just replace them with new ones. There is a groove filled with acoustic foam that runs right around each earcup that terminates at the cord's entry point. After removing the headband yoke by carefully popping it out of each earcup I simply gripped both sides of the earcup and applied outward pressure until the front and back halves separated. Fortunately they are held together by plastic clips that snap apart. Once I had located the fault in the cable and repaired it the earcup halves easily snapped back into place. I now have a functioning set of headphones again!

Don't bother, Koss has a lifetime replacement policy on some headphones like the Pro-4's. All you pay is shipping. Call the repair department.

No sound in one ear

Have the volume control to be repaired, they a cellphone repair shop. If they can't... suggest to bypass the volume controls to its maximum control and buy an earphone that has volume control on it.
