Question about Kenmore Dryers

No heat, motion, but light is on and timer ticks

My Kenmore Extra Large Capacity Dryer(front loader): The drum does not move, the heat and blower do not come on, but the light is on when you open the door. The timer is clearly ticking when you turn the dryer switch. It is 12-13 years old. Please help. Never had trouble like this with my dryer. -Amy

Check the thermal fuse on the blower housing. It is for over heat condition and non resettable.

unplug the machine from the wall - open the door and look in the top of the door hole - there will be 2 screws there - take them out and you will be able to lift the top off - the heating element is located behind the drum on the rear wll of the cabinet - use an Ohmmeter to test the element for continuity - if it is open - you will need to remove the front of the dryer and then the drum to replace the element - if it is continuituos the problem may be a fuse or thermostat or broken wire or an open timer

I have a stackable kenmore washer dryer heavy duty extra large capacity 2 speed motor. The dryer has been making squeeling noise and has stopped toumbling around what can the problem be.

Could be the belt which connects motor and dryer drum. Could be the drum support rollers. Replace both either way -- common problem.

GE Dryer doesn't give out heat.

OK, i would check the thermal fuse. is usually located on or around the blower housing. Check the vent duct if its not on the blower motor housing. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

If the fuse is OK, there is only one more problem spot and that will be the timer itself. replace the timer/control if the fuse is OK.
