There seems to be another internal battery ( aButton type) CR.... which I will replace and hopefully the unit will work.

If the memory battery dies you will have to enter code for reboot. with the blank screen displayed enter 443300 then should come to life or for extended rx-tx enter 001111. at least until the battery pack is removed.

That second battery is the memory battery for the memory chip in the unit. It is more like a watch batter y. It lasts longer but needs replaced from time to time. Hopefully replacing that should get er going.

Hi,

The Yaesu FT727R does not have any internal fuse that I know of. Straight from the Battery + terminal it goes to the on/off switch (that is coupled to the volume control). From the switch it goes to circuitry (PCB). Incidentally, it is the battery that normally has a thermal switch/fuse that cuts off when a certain temperature is reached (when charging).

Other than check the battery terminals/contacts for corrosion and do a little abrasive cleaning, am afraid you'll have to open the unit for a look and see. Should you be interested, a schematic diagram is available here.

Good luck and kind regards.

Try "Batteries Plus" either online or possibly a local outlet. I found the batteries for my FT51 there and half the price of the factory ones.

Yaesu FT-11R amateur radio squelch problem

It sounds like perhaps you have CTCSS turned on so it's blocking received signals that aren't using sub-audible tones. Make sure the "TSQ" indicator is not showing. Most Yaesu radios have the SQU or "T.SQ" option easily found in their menu structure..

FT-11r no longer powers up with a known fully charged battery ? The battery was left in the unit a couple of months with a discharged battery. Could this have damaged the unit ?

It's unlikely leaving the battery pack attached ruined the radio, unless it leaked and corroded the contacts. Be sure they're clean and bright. Double check to be sure the battery pack really is charged to rated voltage.

Battery will not stay charged Acer one will perform perfectly with the battery charger, the computor will not turn on with out the charger. I installed a charged battery and the unit works as advertised....

Hi,
Before you replace the battery, put the charged on back in again to see if that on charges. If it does then the original problem will have been a defective battery.

Regards.

Yaesu VX-3R ham radio will not turn ON!!!!

Even though this is several months old, I thought I would post this reply. I had the same problem when I ran the battery completly down. The charge light didn't come on and the unit would not turn on with the power or battery. Sent the unit back to Yaesu for warranty work and they replaced the switch board. Unfortunately after I got it back and ran the battery down again..... Well, it's back at Yaesu AGAIN! Looks to me like there could be a problem with the power circuit being overloaded when it tries to charge the flat battery!!
Nice little rig, but it may be for sale once I get it back!!

Yaesu Ft-50 hard to turn on

The rubber power button is impregnated with carbon and when pressed, it makes contact with two points on the printed circuit board, turning on the radio. This button eventually wears out and needs to be replaced, which is a rather easy process.

I've performed the operation four times - takes about 15 minutes. The button is available from Yaesu.

I also tried "repair kits" for these buttons which are supposed to replace the conductive surface. Both times, they failed again within a couple of weeks.

The upside is the new button is not as quite as tall as the original and requires depressing it below the surface of the case to switch, which prevents accidently turning off the radio.

Good luck, and 73

Yaesu FT-50R battery drain

scotwho, I personally do not know the radio you are asking about, but I do have many years working with radios in troubleshooting. What I am guessing is, if the heatsink gets hot, then whatever is connected to the heatsink has shorted out. Two main parts come to mind here, and that's the audio chip, and the transmitter output final/chip. Possibly the main IC (brain) that controls most everything, but I doubt that. The radio needs to go to a repair shop that can troubleshoot the damage/ and find an answer as to why it occurred. A lot of times the factory's do not use heatsink compound when they assemble the units, and after an x amount of time the part/parts will fail. 10cents worth of heatsink compound can make a radio last a few years longer.
Probably not the answer you wanted but I hope this helps,, let us know. Mechanic
