There are two types of pump lube, oils and greases, have some plus and negative points; grease can only be used in places which are only required to be smooth but the oils are used in situation where you also need performance. Know more about them at, : http://www.fdjohnson.com/ Home FDJohnson

My sand filter, which I just bought this summer, quit working. I turned it on, it ran for a few minutes, then quit and never came back on.

That is because it is not really a real industry rated pump/filter set up. I would not invest in same type. Spend a little extra and get a real industry rated system. You can call your local pool/spa supplier and they can hook you up with a relatively inexpensive Real pool pump & filter assembly. You will not regret it one bit! Make the move & upgrade away from that type of toy.

How to replace oil pump in 03' GMC sierra 2500HD 4x4 6.0 gas engine

don't forget to disable the engine and crank it till you have oil pressure it only takes running it a minute without pressure to destroy the rod and main bearings be sure to use the correct oil when changing the pump consult a service manual Industry practice was to use assembly lube to prime the oil pumps on installation but with the use of more and more aluminum and lighter oils some engines manufacturers do not recommend priming the pump this way i suggest immerse the oil pickup tube in clean oil and spin the pump shaft till you draw oil to the top of the pump

Try applying pool seal lube to the seal. You may be pinching the seal. Here's were you can download your manual.Find you model number and click on the American/British flag for english version.

Polaris pb460, replaced the impeller and seal. motor binds when the impeller is threaded all the way.

This means that one of the 2 pieces of the shaft seal are not seated all the way. More likely the part on the seal plate. Make sure you use a non petroleum based lube to seat the shaft seal.
