Try to do what you are doing in safe mode. At bot time... hit F% repeatedly until you see a menu with "Safe mode ". choose that and hit enter. Now enter as you normally would but with a usr that has Admin rights on it. Once you are in try to d the system recovery or even better try to see if you can remove the software that is causing the headache. some software are actual viruses.

Run a system scan in there and see if you can eliminate the virus yourself.

Trying to restore emachine to factory settings.. When I go to emachines recovcery management, I get something saying "Empowering Technology is not ready. try again Later"

This is usually a sign that the partition on your hard drive that the recovery media is located in is corrupt. 3 reasons for this:
  1. bad recovery partition from the factory (bad image)
  2. Virus or spyware corrupted files to prevent usage which would prevent you from removing the problem with a recovery.
  3. Hard Drive issues (physical sections of the drive going bad.)
If you created recovery media, use those to recover your system. If you didn't, you may have to purchase recovery media from gateway for your model to recover the computer.

While it may cost you $30 to $50 dollars for the recovery media, it is a lot cheaper than the alternative of getting a tech to try to repair the partition or track down the virus or spyware.

The other advantage of recovery media is if the problems you were experiencing are hard drive related, you can put a replacement drive in and use those recovery disks to get your system working again.

Hi Nayeem, It seems that the Recovery disks are failed. If you have never changed the preinstalled operating system that is provided in the computer, you can recover the computer by reinstalling the OS from the hidden partition which is in the computer.

You can access it using the F10 Wizard while the computer is booting. Please backup important data before you do it.

Find any "generic" Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM disk.
Use that disk, and the 25-character product-key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
Then, access ACER's web-site, and download the specific device-drivers that are found
on the ACER-customized Windows disk (which you don't have).

Or, contact ACER, and pay $20 to $40 to purchase a replacement "System Recovery" set of disks.

My antivirus wont activat on my laptop it was there before now it wontstart uporany other antivirus program

It sounds like you have a virus, a virus can disable your anti-virus and not allow you to install a new one.

You should either try to use-system restore, or a recovery disk,
or the recovery file that is placed on a partition of the hard drive.

Usually you have the windows disk, or the company puts a recovery file on a partition.

So, you can try these, or you can see if you can go online to Fsecure,
online and they have a free scanner , and this will remove any virus.

I bet you don;t have, G-Data, Avira, Avast ,Kaspersky, F-Secure, Norton 2009, Because if you did you would not have a problem,
these are the top anti-virus programs on the planet.
Eset,

If you have more questions just post back.

Product Recovery

So you mean you're going to reformat your system but you don't have the Recovery Disk.
Toshiba company provide Disc Recovery & Drivers Utility on it and if you lose it then Reformat & Re-setup system is to bring it the Computer Center with buying an Windows or Other Operating System in the market. I'm sure in its the market, buy it.
Or if you have friends which know how to remove virus, spams, malware, then have that software to install into your PC to remove such problems.
There's a lot of tips to remove the viruses.
* Updating Virus Definition of your anti-virus.
* Install Trojan Remover or Spyware Doctors.
* Keep up your Firewall Protected On.
Hope this tip might help you.
Good luck!

Cant install recovery disks after a hard drive reformat!

the recovery disk is designed to repair or restore a system to its previous factory condition and is not a full installation. the formating of your hdd would have erased all the data required for this process to be completed. you can try a recovery utility that may be able to help you at this link. the disk might not have been saved in an .iso format to tell the computer to run it before starting an OS. if this disk is recognized and runs on your system then you will need to attempt a recovery, which is unlikely since the drive has allready been formated many necessary system files may not be able to be restored. at this point a complete new install will be necessary.
Good Luck!
