Check and replace damaged component/s at it main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Do asearch by type in the brand name of your device at its search box.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis.

If it is not the afore mentioned remote or button issues, it is a defective IR amp sending the control IC signal from the logic amp to the OSD control. It is a Magnavox, not designed for the long haul.

SOURCE: magnavox tv lcd 47" wont turn on it, use to have

I don't have a model number, but am willing to tell you that this is a classic problem. Magnavox LCD TVs have had bad capacitors that will prevent them from starting up and staying on. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

SOURCE: picture not centered on my philips 47'' lcd tv

NOTE:(Edited and copied from another thread on Fixya.com, c7carl)

Picture is not centered on monitor leaving a 2 1/2 inch; black border on Philips LCD
By dmorrow54 on Nov 13, 2007
Again, nothing in manual for Philips LCD will correct the fact that the picture in HD-D mode will not center. The picture runs off the monitor on the left (facing the monitor) with a 2 1/2" black border on the right (facing the monitor). Using the format button on the remote of directional arrows will not correct the issue. The wide-screen/ full-screen function with format does nothing. Moving into TV mode, the format function works to display screen in several ways 4:3, 19:2, super-zoom, wide-screen, full-screen. Help, please. posted 3 years ago

I have a Philips 30 inch LCD and solved the problem by using the circular arrow button on the TV remote. Pointing it at the TV and clicking "right" (3 o'clock on the button), the picture moved right. Same thing on for "left". Worked for me.

WOW! It works!! The picture on my Magnavox (aka Philips) 37MF321D had shifted to the right. I figured I had a big repair bill coming up soon. But hey! Just used the TV remote as described by "Guest', and re-centered the picture to the left. Wallah! Thanks ""Guest" whomever you are! Reply

LG TV 47 INCH MODEL-47LA6200 THE TV RANDOMLY MAKES A SNAPPING SOUND, THEN THE TV TURNS OFF, AND COMES BACK ON IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND IT WORKS AGAIN,

Sounds like something inside is arcing. I would get a good strong vacuum and vacuum the guts out and also move some of the high voltage parts around away from other parts and then see what happens.

Indicator shows that my 47 inch magnavox lcd is on but there is no sound or picture and i can hear a high pitched wining sound coming from the back of tv. Does anyone know what this problem is?

Probable failed power supply; switching power supplies can fail and produce this kind of noise.
My standard response is pasted below:
If it's failing to turn on, the main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core (no laminations as with a line-frequency part) transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.

Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.

If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, the PSU may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply from the mfr. and install it yourself but it will likely have the same problem eventually unless they have altered the design or improved component quality.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the main power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload

LG 47" LCD FLAT SCREEN

IF IT WASNT DIGITAL HD I WOULD HAVE SUSPECTED HIGH VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY BUT THAT DOES NOT EXIST HERE.
Well, not completely true; the fluorescent backlight is still a high voltage device, even if only hundreds of volts instead of kilovolts, and either the lamp(s) or the power supply for it (them) is causing the dropout of your picture. When it does it next time, look at the screen from various angles, I think you will see that video content is still there.

Phillips 60" magnavox chassis # PTV843

Hello lagqboy,
It looks like you are having a high voltage problem where one or more of the HV components are failing. The picture starting off small and the growing as the TV heats up is a sign of this (high voltage) problem. The problem experienced when a bright scene occurs is due to poor high voltage regulation. I would suggest that you take this set to a qualified TV repair shop due to the fact that the section I am talking about deals with voltages that can be fatal.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,
