Question about Dyson DC25 Vacuum

1 Answer

DC25 Overheating after a filter cleaning

I have a DC25, about 4 months old. After lots of use, it seemed as though there was a lot less suction that it used to have. I cleaned the filters, using the method described on the little stickers on the filters. After replacing them, it seems as though the suction is even worse! I opened everything up to see if there was a problem, and the motor is *hot*, hot enough to cause the plastic protective screen on the motor's filter to warp a bit. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

My dyson dc25 has reduced suction at the base, suction is fine at the wand

This is a guess but I have experienced it on other vacuum cleaners I have owned.

Check the hose that connects the at the base for breaks. Not just the easy to disconnect one connected to the wand, the one that goes into the head, if you are sure there are no blocks I can only imagine this being a possibility

dyson does offer a 5 year warranty if you have not past this age it might be worth sending out.
Stinks having issues with such expensive devices.

How do i fix a loss of suction in a Dyson DC25?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC25 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, this could mean you have a blockage in the wand, hose or one of the airways. Your filters may also need a wash.

To check your machine thoroughly for any blockages, please follow each of the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-irsvsye/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use we recommend washing both filters at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve things, but if you would like some further advice from our experts after giving these steps a try, you can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Does dyson dc25 animal vacuum have a fuse or breaker?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC25 Animal has a thermal cutout which will shut down the machine for protection if it starts to overheat. It should reset automatically once the machine has had at least three hours to cool down.

Overheating could be caused if the vacuum is used when blocked, or if the filters are overdue for a wash. To check for any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use, both filters should be washed at least once every 3 months using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I hope this answers your query, but if you'd like any further help or advice from our experts, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

There is loss of suction & when handle is locked upright it switches of power

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC25 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual and shuts off in use, it's likely that it's overheating. This can be caused by a blockage - the filters may also need washing. To locate and clear any blockages please take a look at our Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use both filters need to be washed at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry before replacing them.
This should resolve the issue but you can reach our freephone customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US) if you'd like any further advice.

My dyson DC24 has very poor suction - all filters clean and hoses seem to be clear. had it for just over a year

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your DC24 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be. From your description of the issue, it sounds as if there may be a blockage in the machine - to locate and remove this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

You may also want to take a look at the video below to make sure you've washed the filters as we recommend. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them. In normal use, this should be done at least once a month.

sounds like there is blockage in the suction hose -- lay the machine down and remove the lower floor plate and clean out the hose area where it bends down to the floor unit ( use a wire coat hanger to fish out the blockage ). also check the main hose for any obstructions.

My eureka 437 stopped sucking

Hello,
I believe the filter on your vacuum is clogged. Bagless vacuums require the filter be brushed or washed and dried, If they are not, the filter will clog, resulting in the reduction of suction. Clean filter about every 3 months or sooner if the same problem happens again. Hope this helps.
