In Japan people car never adjust time ?
Most cars since 2000 do not have a distributor that can be turned to adjust the ignition timing. The signal comes from a crankshaft sensor to the ECM which uses that as a reference point of, for example, TDC or top dead center and fires the spark plugs at some point depending on RPM, load, temperature etc. There are exceptions, but most are PCM (powertrain control module) computer controlled. Some aftermarkets make chips or performance tuning to change the timing. They also make exaggerated claims.
