SOURCE: Rca 5cd changer tray

first basic step if u still haven't tried this yet is to turn the power button off then unplug the appliance then plug it again and turn the on the power button for the compact disc unit to initialized its program on its CPU and memory devices.
second step: if you can manage to open u'r mini component, check the mechanical moving parts of cd rack if there's any broken parts or missing parts.
third; if you still have the remote control try using it.
4rth; don't forcibly close it manually it will just worsen the problem. hope this tips help ;-)

SOURCE: The disc compartment doesn't

Hello

Find a blank disc or a disc that you don't use anymore. Insert this disc about an inch deep into the slot where the discs go in.

Now, move the disc gently sideways while pushing the eject button repeatedly until the discs come out. If this doesn't work, move on

Contact the manufacturer if the CD player is still under warranty. Remember, if you try to open the player, you will be voiding its manufacturer's warranty.

If it's not under any warranty. You have to replace the motor that ejects the discs.

I took out all discs. When I tell it to play a disc the table moves back and forth slowly about an inch. After a couple trys "Table Error" shows up. Both belts are old but on.

Tray will prolly need retimed after the belts slipped off the pulleys.
Procedure is with tray brackets removed lift tray in back then push open button to let the cam gear spin around to open position. Then let tray down and try to close it with button. Reinstall brackets and may take a few attempts to get that gear in the right position!

How do you replace the belt drive in the Yamaha CDC 615?

The drive belt on my CDC-615 stretched out this year too, and needs to be replaced. Unplug the CDC-615 from power. Remove two screws on the left side of the housing, two screws on the right side of the housing, and one screw from the middle top of the rear panel. This will allow the top panel to be removed.
Temporarily re-connect the CDC-615 to power and power it on. Press the "PlayXchange" or "Open/Close" button, which will drop the laser pickup/play head and spindle, and start the open/close motor. Power the CDC-615 down while the motor is running, to leave the laser pickup/play head and spindle in the "down" position. You should now disconnect the CDC-615 from power once again.
From here, you can simply push on the CD tray from behind, until it's in the fully open position. This will reveal the drive wheels (one large and one small pulley) just beneath the tray on the left side, with the tray facing you. This is where the replacement belt goes.
Reverse the steps to put it back together.

I have a 5CD changer stereo system. It is very close to the RS2652 and I use it every day in my classroom. Several weeks ago, it began behaving strangely. First I could only get one or two cds to play...

Hi,
It very well could be a lightning related issue. From previous experience servicing equipment, I have found that electronic equipment that is hit by lightning acts strangely very comparable to what you are describing. Function switches are performing different functions usually due to shorts from the hit. It tends to act normally for bit, and then sporadically do something completely different from what it is supposed to.
As far as service, depending on the age and original cost, you probably are better off getting a new unit. It has also been my experience even if something electronic is repaired, it still may act strangely doing something else later if it was indeed hit. Unfortunately most electronic repair charges can be rather high, maybe 50.00 hr or so, plus parts and a bench fee just to look at it. I have replaced many items for customers after they had them repaired because of this. Check into your insurance. It you have a higher deductable, it may not be worth it. Insurance companies also tend to charge higher premiums as well. Never hurts to ask, but in the long run a drive to the store might be worth it.

My rca rs 1289 5- cd changer mini system will not play, open, close, or change cds. how can i fix this problem at home?

Remove the case screws on the left and right side panels. Pay attention to the long screws that come out of the middle of the panels to make sure they get back in the right spot. Remove one screw from the top rear back panel. Lift side panels of in a hinged motion from the bottom. Remove the top panel in a hinged motion from the rear. In the center of the disc tray remove 1 screw from center. Note the orientation of the tray for re-insertion. Lift the tray up and out. look for small dc motor and spindle. this motor is used to spin the tray. You should find a black belt2_bing.gif between motor and spindle. Make sure it is in good condition. Look to the right rear of the unit. there is a second motor and belt which drives the tray. This belt may be broken or off its spindle. repair or replace the belt as necessary. Plug the unit in and test the open/close function and ensure the gear train, belts2_bing.gif and carriage move smoothly. reassemble.

We have the RCA RS2767i Home Stereo with 5-disc changer and ipod dock. The CD Tray won't eject or shuffle...everything else works fine. It seems the disc tray isn't responding to anything. We read in the...

Let me respond with a possible solution although I'd bet that both of you already tried these.

The reason I checked into this is because I'm looking for a new mini system. I happen to be at Target and they only had 2 models - this one and a SONY. I certainly didn't want to buy the RCA given these problems, so I asked the salesperson, who seemed to have some knowlege.

As far as opening the tray on top, there is a button to push right under the tray. The button has an icon of a triangle on it. This seems to be somewhat of a standard icon for opening the tray or ejecting a CD (my car's CD has the same icon for ejecting a CD).

As far as only being able to get 3 CD's out, there is another button under the tray marked "disc skip". This rotates the tray. When you open the tray, you can only get to 3 of the CD's. When you push disk skip, it rotates the tray one position, so you can get the 4th one out. Another push and now you can get the 5th one.

Sometimes my CD changer doesn't shuffle the disks. If I only have 1 CD or DVD in it and push the tray open button, the disk stays in the unit and the tray revolves to an intermediate position. I push the button to put the tray back and try disc skip; that usually works.

If your problems are not solved per above, then I definitely do NOT want to get this.

CD player ate a CD!!

I fixed the same issue by forcibly pulling individual trays to their open position.  I removed the casing to gain better access (tons of screws) but you can probably gain clear access to the shelfs without removing the casing if you have good needlenose plyers.  I found a stuck CD within one of shelfs, wedged WITHIN the moving components of the shelf.  It works perfectly now.

CD player damage

This can be a messy and frustrating problem to fix. You have to insure that the gears which control the opening and closing of the disc tray are correctly aligned with the apparatus inside. I have fixed this successfully on my own, but I must say it wasn't easy and involves removing the cover to give you better access, taking the tray out again and fiddling with it until everything is lined up properly. Might be worth sending for repairs.
